If you believe moron Brooks. Says he has given several teams the right to talk to his agent. Let's hope he moves him out of town Friday. I want no part of signing him at 6 million a year. That's absurd

Bottom line is IF the story is true and Sather offered 6 mill per for 5 seasons, and Cally said no, we must move on. That is totally insane from Cally and his team. The guy hasn't even had a good year, is doing nothing right now, gets offered 6 mill per for 5 seasons and say no...WAKE UP.

I say 5 mill per TOPS just because he is our captain. Ideally he is a mid 4's player, but I wouldn't go crazy over 5 per tops because he is the captain.

I cannot believe Cally is being this crazy. 6 mill per over 7 seasons is nuts for a player like him. A player having a bad season. A player who gets hurt a lot. A player who might not age well due to his style.

Crazy stuff. And if all true the Rangers have to move on. Some other team can give him 6 mill per for 7 seasons.

The fact they're letting him talk to other teams tells me either they want him to check out his value and come back to reality or they're very upset he's saying no to a five year $6 million per deal.

How can they not be. 6 mill per for Cally and he says no. Sorry but that is nutty. Cally is not a 6 mill per player IMO. Not for 20 or so goals and a guy who is a high risk to breakdown as he ages.

I'm pissed they offered him 6 million a year. If he wants to be here, he should immediately fire his agent and pick one that will get a deal done.

I'm just glad at least it seems like we'll have a quick resolution on this. Not going to pay much attention to what he's supposedly been offered b/c we simply don't know, but what we do know is that he's not worth what he's asking.

Callahan is not a 6 million a year player. Sather was on drugs for offering him that much.

Time to part ways, a true Captain wouldn't be crying a river about a generous offer of $6 mil/year being a hometown discount. I do agree that Glen should resolve this debacle by Friday with the final third of the season playoff push underway, the Rangers don't need the distraction of reporters asking whose side they're on. It's a shame, Cally's a great story of a guy getting an opportunity through other players injuries and forcing his way into the lineup. If another team is dumb enough to offer him $7 mil then he should go for it if all he cares about is the money.

Stewart would probably be more useful right now with the size they need.

Panze, I don't think anyone is dumb enough to offer him 7 million. Only question I see is if someone is dumb enough to give him 6 mill for seven years. He is such a bad fit with AV's system right now never mind the constant injuries its ridiculous.

Honestly mel I don't think Cally is worth $5 mil, wonder if he feels the Rangers underpaid him last contract negotiation. Trade him for Stewart or let him walk come summertime but if 5 years @ $6 mil per is an insult to him, Glen should rescind the offer.

I would sign Callahan for 6 million for the next 7 years. Other team can only do five years and he wont get six at the end of five years. Rangers are in trouble if they lose Callahan.

Ditto what he said. Cally has turned out to be a legend in his own mind.

Cally's pathetic performance tonight also means nothing will get done by tmo and the friggin cally watch will drag on till the march trade deadline. UGH!!!! By the way the US team with both cally and stepan is pathetic and should be a quick exit. Wouldn't be surprised if they don't even make the medal round.
