Re: Go Cardinals! I've been a Cards fan all my life. Thus far in the post season, everyone has doubted us, and we've came through to surprise nearly everyone. Tonight, we shocked the Motor City of Detroit, Michigan, and defeated them on their home field, as Anthony Reyes (5.73 ERA) pitched nine innings defeating another rookie (Justin Verlander; 3.63 ERA) who only pitched five or six innings (correct me.)If's, and injuries have bugged the Cardinals throughout the Post Season. I mean, people are saying Edmonds is done, Rolen is washed up (a homer tonight, and a double), and Pujols's hamstring injury (he still hit a homer. Why not walk the guy?)I'm questioning Game 2 though, but I have my faith in Jeff "Dream" Weaver, just because he's been pitching brilliantly throughout the 2006 MLB Playoffs. I can only hope that he pitches great tommorow night. I would love to see the Cards pick up an unlikely 2-0 lead on Detroit, heading back to Busch.
Re: Go Cardinals! Weaver does not pitch well in Detroit. Trust me, us Tiger fans know. That was a nice performance by Reyes. That Inge interference call was BS. Tigers will rally off of Kenny Rogers' energy and win game 2.
Re: Go Cardinals! That looks to be true right now as the Tigers jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning. Rogers has been pitching tremendously great...he's pitched what? Eight straight innings without allowing a run this post season?
Re: Go Cardinals! Amazing turnaround from the past. He used to be a choke artist in the playoffs. With age comes wisdom, and excellence. At least for Kenny.
Re: Go Cardinals! Yes. He's a great pitcher, and he's showing it tonight against this Cardinals' lineup while the Detroit Tigers are also making nice plays (Curtis Granderson for instance.)I'm glad Weaver got out of that no-outs; bases loaded jam though.

Re: Go Cardinals! Whatever was on his hand had no effect on the outcome of the game. Im sick of going on the Tigers message boards and hearing the whining Cards fans cry about the brown spot on Rogers' hand for the first inning. What is their excuse for the next 7 innings?

I hope Carpenter can play that well tommorow night for Game 3.
Re: Go Cardinals! Oh, dont get me wrong. Im not one to paint every Cards fan the same color. On the contrary. I think St. Louis fans, for the most part, are pretty classy. I was just sick of defending Kenny ALL NIGHT last night on the message boards. My Solution: Spot Carpenter whatever was on Rogers' hand for the first inning.
Re: Go Cardinals! Oh, definitely. I know what you mean. Alot of my friends that I got into liking the Cards a few years ago when I got them more into baseball, was going crazy last night yelling "cheater!" Though, now they are more calm down about it.I, for one, was just thinking Rogers wanted a better grip on the ball. I mean it was cold, and it's definitely hard to grip onto the ball when pitching. I don't blame him for doing it. I don't see anything wrong with it myself.
Re: Go Cardinals! La Russa shoulda argued the hand to the ump more, because you can never be too careful. Of course, even if it was pintar, thats not gonna be the factor that makes him pitch 22 scoreless innings.

I don't care if he pitches two no-hitters in a row without cheating. If he is cheating even for a couple innings, then he should be suspended.
Re: Go Cardinals! I gained a lot of respect for LaRussa last night. He knew what was on Rogers' hand and he could have had him thrown out. However, Leyland and Larussa are very good friends that coached together for a few years. Larussa knew that Leyland didnt know of Rogers' putting anything on his had, as Leyland wouldnt allow it. LaRussa talked to the ump about it but made nothing more of it. He could have had Rogers thrown out of the game. But Im thinking he thought "Leyland wouldnt take one of my best pitchers out for the series, so I wont do it to him". Shows a lot of class.
Re: Go Cardinals! I don't know if friendships should get in the middle of baseball, but it shows class. Suppan vs. Bonderman tonight, this will be a heck of a pitching matchup.
Re: Go Cardinals! I'm loving this. My friends and I are having a party tonight; watching the game. Some of them hopped the Tigers wagon when they made the World Series. Now, they joined the good guys' side (Annoying friends..)GO CARDS! I really hope they can win this tonight; shock the world; prove everyone wrong. That's what we've did so far.
Re: Go Cardinals! Yeah, it only took them 3 straight WS trips, getting swept twice to do it, but they just may. THEY. JUST. MIGHT. DO IT.
