That's what I was thinking. Now, if we got a first round pick in the deal, Deng could go freeing up cap space and we have a pick as well. I think we are becoming a much more attractive team to free agents.
What about this? http://basketball.realgm.com/tradechecker/saved_trade/6423933 Batum, Wright, Williams, Leonard for Deng, Varejao.
Geez, Sly, Durant is not nearly the playmaker and defender that Nic is. Learn the game and then post.
Uh, Wright and Leonard totally suck and have been cut from the rotation much of the season. They are both under contract next year and are basically dead weight to us, so it's to our benefit for Cleveland to take them. I don't think Mo is that great of a backup PG, I'd rather have Varejao coming off the bench to play backup center and let Watson be our backup PG. Lillard/Watson Matthews/McCollum Deng LA/Robinson Lopez/Varejao At least our bench wouldn't get killed on the boards like they do every night.
No offense, Eric, but this is a soccer mom reaction. By every metric, Deng is a better player than Batum. Yes, Nic has a "higher ceiling", but how long do we have to wait for it?
However it could be conditional on a second trade. Varejao and Jack for Wright, Mo. Claver, Leonard, Watson, and Crabbe. But that might be a little too crazy.
