The good news for Portland is they have the pieces to be very active at the deadline. Neil Olshey has done a fine job of upgrading their talent base in the last two years. Meyers Leonard, Will Barton and Allen Crabbe all have the upside to be NBA starters and none of them can find minutes on the Trail Blazers. Even McCollum, the No. 10 pick in 2013, isn’t needed on this team. Lillard and Williams do all the things he does but better. http://basketball.realgm.com/blog/231897/The-Outlook-For-The-Blazers-At-The-Deadline What exactly have Meyers and Barton done to prove they have the upside to be starters, and how is CJ "not needed"? Have they just not watched the bench at all?
Well, it IS RealGM. They're one of the last fan-made sites that came about in the early 2000's. Most of them are gone at this point. None of them have any credibility.
Well I kind of do agree with the McCollum thing. The Blazers where doing fine without CJ. I know he's the new kid in town and it's fun to see the new guys but the truth is if CJ went down again it's not like the team would fall apart. They would still be the same.
He's pretty much the only guy from the bench that can come in and score with how Mo has been playing lately.
You know I bet you that if you ask most fans who is more important to the team Mo Williams or CJ McCollum they will say CJ. However if you ask anyone in the Blazers Brass or on the Blazers team they will tell you Mo Williams.
Depends on if you ask them that question in season or after Mo opts out of his contract in the off-season. Pretty obvious (to most) that CJ wasn't brought in to be 6th man this year but he was brought in to be 6th man as soon as next year.
Yep, Mo might be seen as more important this year, but i'd be shocked if they thought that after this year.
I think Meyers can be a starter someday but he needs to be on a bad team that will let him grow naturally. We are in win now mode and he doesn't fit what we need at the center spot. His rookie numbers compare favorably with Spencer Hawes Spencer Hawes Rookie year 4.7 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 0.6 bpg, 45% fg 13 mpg Meyers Leonard rookie year 5.5 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 0.6 bpg, 54% fg 17 mpg Crabbe could still be a nice player but he has barely had any chances here. He is supposed to be a high upside guy and can shoot the ball well, plus his rookie year isn't even up yet. I don't think Barton will last but he has a unique skill set and if he ever gets it under control he could a great high energy guy off the bench. We're just too deep at guard to really see these guys in games right now. I feel more confident in our SG depth than anything else right now
People who act like they know everything really get on the nerves of those of us who do. Some of you are going to act like you already knew that.
not starter but I think he could be a lance stephenson light coming off the bench with some more work
I read both boards daily and am very familiar with the cultures of both boards, as well as most of the posters. And although I rarely post on either I can honestly say I have some strong preferences for each board. RealGM has more of a core set of posters that are pretty familiar with each other, and the board in general is not quite as up and down as S2. S2 has WAY more posters, and if the team is doing well people are drunk with elation. If we lose a game, the Vista Viaduct is queueing with S2 posters taking their number to jump on the max tracks. RealGM has some very knowledgable posters, but the admins have a lot more rules they have to abide by which makes the discussions not quite as entertaining on average as S2. S2 is more fun, but also can be almost unbearable to read when the same users get into pissing matches on almost every thread and derail almost every thread. When that's not happening I think I prefer S2, but RealGM is a bit more predictable and also has some good content on it.
No I am Voodoo, Blazers fan. And yeah, I agree the general board does suck. But then again I don't go to the general board on either of these forums anymore. The team boards on both forums are both really pretty good for differing reasons, but I tend to prefer S2 these days.
