    Pierce on Gerald Green:
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>?In a few years when he?s taking over my spot and I?m over there coming off the bench for him,? Pierce said, ?I can sit back and smile and say, ?That?s my boy.? ?</div>
    Gerald:
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>?Paul?s always been doing that,? Green said. ?He gets in my ear and tells me things I need to know. He tries to make it easier for me. He?s giving me advice. I mean, he?s a leader, so that?s the kind of thing you know he?ll be doing."</div>
Honestly, this is really suprising because Paul Pierce doesn't EVER say things like that about a young player. I don't know about you, but I find this comment very suprising and also a bit comforting. I mean Paul really never says anything like this, he's not a guy to do that. It's encouraging to hear him say something like he can't wait to smile in a few years when Gerald takes his spot. I don't know about you, but I'm loving this comment.

this tells me two things.1.) Gerald is going to be something special.2.) Paul Pierce is a great leader.this is more like reassuring, but whatever.

Yeah you gotta give credit to Pierce, he has really stepped it up being a leader. To think a few years ago we were debating trading him.....man...times change

To be honest, in my heart I still believe that Boston isn't the best place for Paul to win a title, especially not in him prime. I mean unless Gerald Green turns into T-Mac and Al Jefferson turns into Jermaine O'Neal, Paul Pierce isn't winning in Boston (unless Danny pulls a major trick out of his hat and pulls a deal for KG... not happening). Even with that said, it would tear me up to see him in another uniform, and he's my favorite player. No doubt in my mind I love the fact that he stayed and I absolutely love the leadership and loyalty he's shown, especially through these tough times in the past couple seasons. Loyalty is an irreplaceable trait to have in your superstar. Guys like Pierce, Reggie Miller, Allen Iverson, Kevin Garnett - I love the loyalty and dedication towards their respected organizations, 50 wins or 30 wins.

Another thing I love about this is it shows that Paul wants to be a Celtic. It shows his heart is with the team.

Kind of odd for a superstar player to talk about another guy eventually taking over his spot. Some players have too much pride to ever think of saying it. Good to hear.

Isn't there a chance he said that just to get the reaction you're giving him? "oh what a great guy" "he's such a leader" kissing his ass?

Pierce isn't the type of player to do something in vein just for attention and love. he's one of the least appreciated players in the league. geez, why do you have to be such a pessimist?

And even if you are right, most leaders on teams who happen to be the best player would never say something like this. It just shows how underrated of a leader Pierce actually is. This is why I have so much respect for him as a person and a player. And another thing, why would he need to kiss Gerald's ass when he is an All Star, the best player on his team, and putting up over 25 a night? doesn't make too much sense to me.
