What Sager said was that Boozer told him that he (Boozer), "will not be traded by next week's deadline, nor will the team buyout the final year of his contract this summer unless they can land a superstar which is too good to pass up."

Although a "buyout" and amnesty are very different, I can't imagine anyone was playing word games here, that is, amnesty was what Boozer/Sager meant. The questions of who told Boozer this and why are things I'd be curious about, but are clearly secondary.

If Mirotic is not coming over for next season, keeping Boozer makes basketball sense. If Taj Gibson is being traded, keeping Boozer makes basketball sense. I'm having a tough time seeing how having Mirotic, Gibson and Boozer on the same roster makes basketball sense...$16.8mil is a little pricey for a backup center.

Edit: I just checked my salary numbers. If Boozer and Gibson are both retained, it's pretty clear that Mirotic would need to accept the $5.3mil mid-level exception if he wants to come to the NBA for 2014-15. Few reports I've read recently speculate that Mirotic will accept a starting salary that low.

It was an oxymoron. Like "jumbo shrimp." The words don't make much sense together.

Don't you mean to say that those two words constitute an oxymoron when used in the context of Bulls management? Other teams make moves that make basketball sense, no?

Yes, "Bulls" and "basketball decision" are the oxymoron.

Follow the money. The bottom line. Then everything makes sense.

Not really a rumor, but do you think that it is possible that the Bulls sign Ben Gordon if he get a bought out? Or perhaps Keith Bogans?

    Adrian Wojnarowski @WojYahooNBA
Kings still shopping Jimmer Fredette, unable to find deal for him so far, league sources tell Yahoo. A 2014 second-round pick could get him.

    (No brainer, do it GarPaxDorf)

No. Their interest is staying under the tax, not fielding the best team.

They could have had Fredette for a 2nd round pick and cap ballast. They'd have likely gone over the tax threshold to get to 13 again, tho.

I agree. As I've said before, I believe that the Bulls FO gave up on the 2013-14 season as soon as Rose tore his meniscus. They proved it with the Deng trade which admittedly offered the team a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to avoid the luxury tax this season. If you've given up on this season in favor of the benefits of avoiding the tax, then you damn sure shouldn't risk those benefits for the likes of Jimmer Fredette. There's a reason that he's available for a 2nd-round pick.

Why do you think Fredette was available?

He certainly would help the Bulls.

Jeez, Fredette's making over 49% of his 3-pointers...he'd be leading the league if he had the minutes. As I recall, Sacto traded up to the top-10 to get him. Now, a couple years later, he's the featured item of a fire sale...and no takers. The Kings lose twice as often as they win. They're one of the worst defensive teams in the league. The kid's gotta be all-world bad on defense is all I can figure.

I'm not sure he'd help the Bulls. Would Thibodeau play him?

He's certainly as good as Dunleavy on defense.

The Bulls don't trade away draft picks do they? But the real issue is the guy makes $3M rookie scale and the Bulls would have to trade a few guys or Kirk or Dunleavy to balance the CBA salary requirement.

I think he was buried in Sacto behind a bunch of 6'7" guys and Thornton (since traded).

It appears that the 2nd round pick will no longer be necessary...according to Adrian Wojnarowski, Fredette's being bought out and will be a free agent if he clears waivers. Link

Yeah, saw it. Seems like the guy is BG lite. Tiny SG who can score in bunches and is a deadeye from 3pt. Probably not going to bother Ray Allen when defending him.
