Actually to say by that logic is missing the point. Yes Lamarcus is 28 as is Deng. Deng will be 29 in April and Lamarcus in July. Wes will be 28 in October. The bigger point since you were more focused in the smaller is this trade would not make us better... at all. Everyone complains that our depth in the post is a problem so the solution is to trade our whole 2nd unit for a small forward? Really? Then our saviors are Keane Brown and Jason Collins 2 unsigned bigs when bugs are so valuable to team's trying to make playoffs. Yeah our young guys are learning the game and make mistakes. Those other guys are old and weren't good to begin with.

You're going to be really disappointed posting on this board if you have an eye toward anything past this season. This is Imaginary Trade Land, Cap Be Damned, and if you disagree, you don't ever want to win a title. Mortgage the future for a futile run this year! Deng isn't going to lead the Blazers past OKC, anyhow. This is OKC's season to make the Finals. What they do with it, who knows, but teams like the Blazers that come out of nowhere don't make NBA Finals, no matter what bench players are added during the season.

Actually let me phrase that more accurately. I was a mod at fanhome then when that community moved to bbb I was CM there, and proud to say I had the distinct honor of banning mixum from there myself. I was asked to CM here when it started but opted to pass on the opportunity.

The O-Live posters are taking over this board, or so I'm told.

CJ has the potential to give this team a second guard who can create his own shot. Now granted he has not played 20 games yet, but he is showing signs to be pretty damn good. I get that Deng overall is a better player right now, but moving CJ at this moment for an UFA....... does not seem like the smart thing to do.

I'm going to mark this day down -- first time I've ever agreed 100% with PapaG.

Deng would be appealing if Martell Webster was still the staring SF.

Also not interested in dealing CJ.

I know, it's unideal. Where's RLEC when you need it? Olshey has been a bit too good in managing contracts.

I thought about Wesley, and while I'd do it, I think Cleveland would be even less likely to.

Sigh. I just want Deng, but the planets are not aligned. Somebody else will get him and it's going to be maddening. If it's OKC I will be SO pissed.
    Yea

Solid posts, Schilly. Thanks for infusing a dose of reality and long-term thinking.

(To be clear, I posted that playing Deng and Batum together might be intriguing. I didn't even look at the proposed 'trade' to get him here. I rarely do. ;) )

You slammed people for thinking long term when it was looking like LA wanted out.

No, people wanting to trade LMA immediately for garbage were thinking short-term. There was no long-term thinking, just "ZOMGersh, better trade LMA for anything, because it's better than nothing when he walks!!!" Plus, anybody who doesn't wet their tighty whities at the first sign of adversity knew that when the team got better, LMA would want to stay. It's called not panicking at the first perceived bit of bad news.

Embarrassing as last summer was for you, I'm surprised you even bring up those idiotic LMA ideas as proof of some sort of long-term thinking. I don't think you understand what "long-term" planning really is, unless you're going to follow the old Clipper model because they got CP3.

Who was honestly saying, "trade LMA for anything?"

There were people, myself included, who thought we should start looking for a deal. Nobody was saying, "OMGERD! Get rid of LA now!!!111!" We were looking at potentially losing LA for nothing at the end of his contract, and we felt it was in the long term benefit of the team to trade him during all the rumors and talk that he wanted out.

I'm not revisiting it for the 100th time. You can spin it any way you want, but some of those posts were just so embarrassingly naive, I'm surprised anyone takes you seriously here. I thought your "fax machine" nonsense during the summer of Batum was bad enough, but now that I think of it, I can't wait to see what sort of hare-brained posts you come up with this summer, only to be proven wrong yet again.

It's fairly impressive how much you remember, because honestly I forget just about everything you post within a week or two. Tell me, do you keep an archive or do you just cling to these things long enough to rehash them over and over? You hadn't brought up the "fax machine" in a while, so I was just curious.
