Everyone on the rubechat hates Barea. You think people don't like Mo here... it's not even close to the disdain they have for Barea.

The role he played for the Mavs team is what I'm referring to.

HE is a level above Barea. Thomas is a legit starting PG while Barea was a heat check guy, never avg more then 4 assists and 10ppg for the mavs.

I know. I was referring to what he'd be now, in his current incarnation.

Lots of cursory banter but nothing with a lot of traction it seems. Some of the more interesting names:

Andre Miller - the issues have been well documented
Kenneth Farid - The 'Manimal' is too much like.....JJ Hickson.
Jeff Teague - Who knows what Atlanta is doing....
Pau Gasol - Massive ending contract
Jarrett Jack - Brooklyn and Sac-to interested. He's dying in Cleveland.

Any team with multiple picks seems more active and of course there are still the 'Philly 3' on the block at different price levels.

Kinneth Farid is a much better defender than Hickson.

I would love to add Faried.... but he would command too high of a contract for a backup power forward.

Just like last season, it's looking like this will be another boring NBA trade deadline because of the current CBA.

Yep. One GM said during all star weekend that this is the quietest his phone has ever been at this time. Another said teams are so aware of the new CBA conditions that it has had a chilling effect on trade talks.

So is that good or bad for us? I prefer having teams like the Lakers being handcuffed by the CBA. I guess if we assume Paul Allen will pay whatever it takes to get to the next level then it hurts us, but as more and more teams are being purchased by multi billionaires, I think the attempt to level the playing field for small market teams is best in the long run for us.

It doesn't look like CBA issues to me. More like teams with cap space want a sweetener to take on someone's bad contract, and nobody wants to give-up a 1st in this draft.

Philly has enough actual cap space to take Asik for nothing. They want a 1st round pick to use that cap space. Houston wants a 1st back for Asik. No deal there :)

Philly is a young team looking to trade some of their players for draft picks and they'll have plenty of cap space next season to make some moves. It'll be interesting seeing how it all pans out for them.

and then Philly wants a 1st rdr for a rental like Hawes, unless common sense prevails (unlikely in most cases) little will happen

Philly isn't getting a first rounder for Hawes. No way.

Maaaaybe for Turner, but I doubt it.

I don't understand why they aren't coming down in price (they might before the deadline is over), it would be better to get some young guys to develop for him than to lose him in several months for nothing. With Noel there i don't see him re-signing anyway.

totally agree, and frankly I wonder how many firsts they really want, they already have two good ones this year, teams usually don't want too many picks the same year. I would think they would want a young guy or two to take a shot at to develop who they can let go after next yr if it does not work out, Meyers or Trob fit that bill but WTFDIK

Hawes will probably be worth more than the MLE this offseason, won't he?
