I would build around Gilbert Arenas. Chauncey might be a better PG now, but I think that in time, Arenas will get better. From what I read in SLAM about him, he is always in the gym working to get better, so if he keeps that up, I see no reason why he can't surpass Billups.
Actually this is a pretty hard comparison for me. I mean, Arenas is young and can score... but Billups can score, shoot, playmake, clutch, etc. BUT... Billups is 6 years older which bring a whole other topic up.If I had to pick, it'd be Billups. I don't care his age, it doesn't look like he will get out of his MVP-worthy seasons for a few years, and in that time, I'll find another guy to lead. Arenas, you'll have for a longer time and he can score very effectively and can save your team last-minute. But really he isnt on the same level in terms of other things to Billups and may never get that good. HE's still good for a franchise too, but Billups is much more talented and is a really good leader imo.
Plus he's got that pressureised house To get him used to high altitude. That alone shows his commitment.
Tony...this is pretty silly. You obviously build around the guy thats 6 years younger. :no1: I understand that Billups is a very good PG, not an MVP caliber player like some think...but come on...You don't build around a 30 year old, period when you have an elite 24 year old.
I would take Gilbert Arenas over Chauncey Billups any day. I'm a big fan of Billups (Arenas too) but alot of his sucesss in Detroit comes around with the other players there..and their success comes with him, and the rest around them as well. Arenas has really transcended the Wizards into a whole different level and is definitely their pure leader.Put Arenas around Hamilton, Prince, and Wallace..who knows what he could do.
why is this in general??anyway I would take arenas just because of his scoring ability and age, I dont like billups at all so I am biased. but still, if they pistons had arenas they would be soo much more explosive
tony, you know better than to put this in general nba. I'm guessing it was a mistake.I'd definitely take Gilbert Arenas. He's much younger, a strongly motivated player, a better scorer, an equal passer. no question in my mind.
Obviously Arenas, simply because of age. Chauncey is soon to be on the decline. Gilbert is turning into a true superstar. It's not even close if you're asking who you'd want to build around, but even regardless of age, I'd probably still take Arenas.
Regardless of age I think that Billups' years in Detroit probably cloud people's judgment about him. Yes, he's performed amazingly well these last few years, but wasn't he unremarkable and a journeyman for like 6 years before that? He found a great situation for him and excelled, I don't think he's the type of player who can do that anywhere.Arenas? He continues to surprise and impress at a young age.
If it is to build a franchise around then it is obviously going to be Arenas because of his age. If you are talking over the next two to three years then I woudl take Chauncey. He is better then Arenas overall now and I think will be for a couple more years.

He is one of the top players in Steals, and Scoring and he gets to the free throw quite often. He is much faster than Bullips and I think his age is making him slower. Don't get me wrong Bullips is a fantastic PG and im not saying he is slow just that Arenas is a bit faster. With the passing game I gotta go with Bullips but, its only time that Arenas will have that court vision. I think he gonna be in the top 5 point guards this season. And with leadership Arenas does have that who do you think carries that team ummm Arenas.

He is still getting better and better. He is a much better scorer than Chauncey, and while not the defender or playmaker, everything else is pretty much a wash. The biggest difference to me is the scoring, and the fact that Arenas is still improving while we have likely seen the best out of Billups.
