just letting you know I'll be here to write this. so no one else do so. I'll edit this post with the finished preview. vs. Probably Starting line-ups:Boston CelticsPG- Sebastian TelfairSG- Tony AllenSF- Wally SzczerbiakPF- Ryan GomesC- Kendrick PerkinsNew Jersey NetsPG- Marcus Williams (if JKIdd's out, I can't think of another pg)SG- Vince CarterSF- Richard JeffersonPF- Nenad KrsticC- Jason CollinsNew Jersey scouting report:-They really have changed their reputation of a run-and-gun team. They can now play in the half-court and play defense. Jason Kidd is obviously their leader, one of the best pg's in the game. One player that will likely play more is Nenad Krstic. I think Perk could easily guard him, but he got alot of calls last game. If Perk can play physical, but not too physical, and actually block nenad out, he shouldn't be too much of a problem.-On the subject of rebounding, the celtics will have to do a better job. New Jersey has a pretty good defense, so we won't be able to have a field day or anything. We'll have to get extra opportunities on the offensive end and get stops on the first shot on the other end. At the end of the game a few days ago, I noticed that Boston really pushed the pace in the fourth quarter and got plenty of easy buckets to make a stellar comeback. I think we are in better shape, and should definitely take advantage of it.-Hope Vince Carter is cold. He's a kind of hit-or-miss player. hot or cold. He'll hit some shots that shouldn't be made, but overall, he normally shoots a pretty low percentage against us. Tony Allen seems to do a very good job on him.Keys to the game:-Like I said before, push the ball. We stayed running in the fourth when njn wore down, we should take advantage of this.-Rebound well. NJ is good defensively, so getting extra shots won't hurt.-Make the extra pass. like I said, new jersey has a good D. they also have alot of good individual defenders. The best way to break a team down defensively is to pass the ball a lot, not go one -on-one.Key Match-up: vs. Kendrick Perkins
vs.

Nenad Krstic
How well Krstic plays may effect the result of the game. If Perk can contain him, I think we have a good shot at winning the game.X Factor:Rajon Rondo. He'll definitely be pushing the ball the whole game, and his vision and playmaking ability could be huge in this, not to mention his stellar defense.Dogma's prediction:BOS- 104 NJN- 100.
Hey dogma I made one not even thinking that is was an away game, my bad bro. Delete my thread. But some things you should know: - Pierce isn't playing (infected finger) - Ratliff is still out with his sore lower back - Boone (shoulder) and House (left knee) obviously aren't playing - Kidd may not pla (viral infection) - Marcus Williams practiced Thursday, but who knows if they will rest him. EDIT: Fans at RealGM said Collins and Robinson might not play either.
Letting you guys know: Celtics Starters C: Perk PF: Gomes SF: Wally SG: Delonte PG: Bassy Nets starters were normal (Kidd, VC, RJ, Collins, Krstic). It's going to be interesting to see how D-West goes on Vince.
Richard Jefferson: 24 points, 9-12 FG, 2-2 3-pt, 4-5 FT, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, in 19 minutes. I love it.Wish I could actually see the game.
this is a very entertaining game so far. lots of scoring and teamwork out there.we're moving the ball like I said we need to, and it's helping alot. We're getting open looks and knocking them down. Gomes has been great, hitting that midrange. Tony Allen is being agressive, vut maybe a little too much. Rondo has looked SPECTACULAR, on both ends. This kid is going to be a player, no doubt. how about that one play? almost deja vu. in traffic, he passes to an open al jefferson for the slam, then steals the inbounds pass, passes to gerald, but gerald missed. also, he had a block on marcus williams, took it the other way and dished to TA for the nice flush. Delonte hasn't been doing anything incredible tonight, but he's playing unselfish like a point guard should. He's getting abused by Vince tho. I like having two point guards in the line-up, we can get it to either one and just go. alot more scoring is getting done.Marcus Williams has looked great, too. Very nice passer. He had a beautiful no-look to acutting richard jefferson for the reverse jam/ oh, and Richard Jefferson is just lighting it up. Hitting everything, he has 24 points, and no matter how hot he is, 24 in a half is just unacceptable.
I'm okay with this loss. it was a great comeback in the last few minutes, and that last call was crap (I'm talking with Walcsh, not Ray). let's break it down:Wally Szczerbiak- played well, but I thought he shot too many off balance jumpers. it's okay when he hits them, but he went 6-13 tonight.Sebastian Telfair- He really is a great scorer, with alot of heart. He went down with a fight. 21 points, 9 assists. He is an underrated shooter, he really has the midrange shot down, and he hit 2 three's in a row. This guy is lightning quick tho, he can get into the lane at will.rajon rondo- what a joy to watch. every game he gives you something that just makes you say "wow." He had a few of those plays tonight. He played GREAT defense, applied pressure and played rotations well. He's such a heady playe, especially for a rookie. He just sees things that even most point guards don't. He knows where to find his teammates on the court and he gets them the ball. He's our best point guard, no doubt about it.Delonte West- he must've read my post at halftime. he came out hot, I saw that he and Vince were kind of getting at eachother's throats, and Delonte was just burning him. Al Jefferson- played VERY well tonight. He was making his shots, and he kept every rebound possible alive. I can't count how many times he would tip the ball for an offensive rebound. He wasn't forcing a whole lot, even tho I have to admit he still looked awkward at times. he was making his little baby hook, which we all know is definitely a good thing. good overall night.Kendrick Perkins- I was disappointed tonight. 1 rebound, no fga's. he just wasn't there tonight, granted he did only play 16 minutes. I was getting pretty frustrated early when nenad krstic was getting rebounds over him. hopefully this won't happen too often.Tony Allen- Overall pretty good night, but I would much rather have delonte, rondo, or bassy handling the ball. he missed several open guys because his head was down, and it seemed that tonight he was out for his. 15 points and 3 steals, but also 5 turnovers.Gerald Green- awful. he couldn't hit a shot, and he wasn't running like he should. he settled for outside shots and they weren't falling.I wasn't too proud of the defense tonight. We hardly ever got back, and even though we had a lot of steals (16 total, 8 in the first quarter), NJN shot very well (almost 49%), and they scored 109. Part of this is probably due to all the small line-ups we had. I mean, at one point, Tony Allen was the tallest Celtic on the floor, for a few minutes too. Offense looked great tho, as usual. We were making the extra pass and people were knocking down their open shots. out of telfair and rondo we got 34 points, 14 assists, 4 steals, and 6 TOs.
This was not a bad loss consdering Paul didn't play. A lot of young guys contributed into this game and Telfair played tremendously. In control, very aggresive (7-8) FT, making 6 out of 9. Again we had 16 steals, I still think we will step our defense a ton this year, it was great to see the young guys making plays out there. Rajon continues to impress as well. This was probably one of the best losses we will se all season haha. Good game overall.
If that was a foul on Gerald on the other end (when he "fouled Walsh"), then that was definitely a foul at the very end! But I'll tell you what, I honestly HATE supersmall ball with a passion. Preseason or not, what the hell is wrong with you Doc? Under no circumstances should you ever play Tony Allen at center and Delonte West at PF. Sebastian Telfair 21 points, 4 rebounds, 9 assists on 6-9 shooting and 7-8 from the line Sebastian played great. He brought a lot of energy, he drove to the basket very well, and he hit his free throws. But that's not what I liked the most. The thing I liked the most was Bassy's drive-and-kick game tonight! Wow! He found guys, Gomes especially, every time. Great job. Ryan Gomes 14 points and 6 rebounds Gomes hit that 15-19 footer with ease. That shot has really come a long way since last year, and he knocked them all down tonight. Al Jefferson 13 points, 8 rebounds, 3 steals, 1 block on 6-12 shooting I thought Big Al played excellent tonight. Easily his best game of the preseason. He looked real comfortable at center, and even though Krstic knocked his shots down, Big Al played very well. He won the Tommy Award and he REALLY deserved it. He was crashing the offensive glass excellently, he didn't force his shots, and he knocked down his shots. Great job Big Al, do that every night and you are going to help this team out tremendously. Rajon Rondo 13 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals, and 1 block Rajon mother-effin Rondo is unbelievable, really. He does absolutely everything on both ends of the floor. He really does everything right except shoot long range jumpers. He hustled like a mad man, defended very well, was getting rebounds, made some terrific passes/kickouts, and really took advantage of his quickness when driving (as usual). I mean I'm writing the same thing about Rondo every night, because he does everything every night. Incredible. Wally Szczerbiak 16 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals on 6-13 shooting Wally played well tonight as well... offensively. Richard Jefferson pretty much owned him. But Wally made some real nice passes and he knocked his shots down. But again, Richard Jefferson killed him. Delonte West 10 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 steals on 5-14 shooting Delonte played pretty well despite a rough shooting night. He came up with a lot of hustle plays. You can't really blame him for not stopping Vince Carter, that is an incredibly tough assignment for a 6'3'' guard. But overall, pretty solid night. Tony Allen 15 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals, 5 turnovers, 4 fouls Don't let those stats fool you. Sure he scored 15 points, but I though TA played pretty terrible tonight. He forced EVERYTHING, he probably passed the ball like 3 times the whole game (he took it every single time), and he had 5 stupid turnovers. I really didn't like what TA did tonight, despite what the box score says. He made 3-4 nice plays, don't get me wrong, but the problem was probably the 9-10 bad plays. Kendrick Perkins 2 points, 1 rebound, 2 turnovers, and 4 fouls Perk didn't have a good game either. He came up with some really bad fouls, which really kept him out of the game. Perk needs to learn to control his fouls. Gerald Green 3 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist, 1 block on 1-7 shooting Gerald didn't shoot well tonight at all. I mean he definitely took good shots, no doubt about that, they just weren't going down tonight. Defensively, he's been better, but he's been worse as well (eh hem.. all last year). Leon Powe 2 rebounds, 1 steal Powe only played about 6-7 minutes, but he held his own while he was in there. He didn't take any shots, but he cleaned the glass a bit and provided toughness. Allan Ray 1 assist and 1 steal on 0-2 shooting Allan, don't worry about that last play. We all know you were fouled, the refs just wanted to go home. Luke Jackson He played like 30 seconds, so I can't judge him at all. O still didn't play :ranting: 7 down, 1 to go baby!
this team is really starting to come together. we have great camraderie, and we probably would've won that game had pierce played even a little bit, or had Doc not been stupid with the rotations. We are a much better passing team now, and I think that may be the difference. well, that and the newly found aggressiveness on the defensive end.
