The Portland Trail Blazers have been identified as the 'Wild Card' team in on a trade for Omer Asik, a league source told RealGM's Andrew Perna.

The Atlanta Hawks, Boston Celtics, Cleveland Cavaliers and Philadelphia 76ers are also pursuing a trade with the Houston Rockets for Asik, according to a report on Tuesday by Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Wojnarowski added that there was an unidentified 'Wild Card' team.

The Blazers have had an excellent start to the season and the main thing holding them back from pulling the trigger on a deal for Asik are concerns about chemistry.

Obviously Asik is not happy coming off the bench. That's what got him in this situation at the first place. I can definitely see a "cancer" type of situation in the locker room if he has to come off the bench and play 20 mpg. On the other hand, would you want to put him in the starting line up and have Rolo come off the bench?

Moving Freeland as backup 4 and having a Rolo/Asik tandem at 5 is going to help our D tremendously.

I guess it all comes down to what we have to give up for Asik.

Yes! But I think we'd have to send Robin to HOU if we were trading for Asik.

That would be a horrible move. Just horrible.

I second that! It still boggles my mind how fans aren't seeing how valuable Rolo has been for this ball club. Trading him would be a joke

Even Bill Simmons was saying it would be stupid to trade Lopez for Asik.

I didn't weigh in, one way or the other, on trading Robin. I only said that I'd be very happy to have Asik starting and Robin coming off the bench...and that it'd be very unlikely because we'd have to trade Robin to get Asik.

You said we'd have to send Robin to Houston if we were trading for Asik. I said that trade would be horrible.

Too expensive. Houston doesn't want our scrubs, an we aren't breaking up the team.

To bad the Rockets used their amnesty on Scola. I bet they are kicking themselves.

Morey screwed up, he should have traded Asik after he got Howard signed last summer and Asik's value was very high, he overplayed his hand and will now receive much less value if he even trades him at all

Asik isn't eligible for amnesty. He signed his contract after the 2011 lockout. This is basic stuff. :dunno:

15 Mill for both Lin/Asik. Moray overplayed his hand and now he is going to end up spending a ton of the rockets owners money. It could work out very nicely in his favor if he had the contract make most of the payment right off the bat so they could then dangle both Asik/Lin to not only people who want them but also teams who would love to send out 9m in contracts and get asik or lin back and only owe that player a million or two.
