Weiss on Detroit has done crap this year. He was a good player.

I know, Weiss was a guy I thought they might have pursued this past offseason if Richards was bought out. What a disaster he's been

Weiss doesn't match with Boomer anyway, won't be him.

He makes it sound big, but I think he means that more from a NYR POV dealing their captain.

Man it would be real sweet if we could score St. Louis

For sure. Looking at it from TB's POV I almost see zero reason they would make that deal though...zero.

Can you give me any reasons TB would do this???

And on top of that, St. Louis is a better player than Cally, so why would we be upset at first?

MUCH better shot it is Ruutu IMO. Even Plekanec.

For a rental Cally, a good solid player but not a stud, we aren't going to break the bank in a trade return.

I settle on Ruutu for now.

Because St. Louis is 38 years old and Tampa can spend the money to sign Callahan if all he cares about is money.

Maybe Plekanec will be the C to replace Richards next year?

    Very wishful thinking dump.

You are TB. Okay we will trade our heart and soul, our captain, who is a better player, AND is signed for next year for rental Cally who MAYBE we can re-sign.

    Not happening dump...just isn't IMO.

Much better chance we get a lesser return that would upset us at first as Boomer said, someone like a Ruutu.

    We'll see.

With that said, we are all shooting somewhat in the dark here, so anything is possible. Not sure why TB would deal MSL for the lesser player rental Cally, but anything is possible.

St. Louis is an old fart Chuck. As far as being a better player. He's a better offensive player. He's not a better defensive player. He's not a better PK guy. He's not a better physical player. He's not any more of the heart and soul of the Lightning as Callahan is to the Rangers. Again, he's a relic. I would not have any interest in the Rangers bringing in a 38 year old player.

60 pts in 48 games last year for a guy who apparently has no desire to stay here? I'll take that easy

i doubt its Lucic, why would Boston trade him?

I've heard Chimera..... that would be one of the worst trades in NHL history.
Bolland is not bad but the team doesn't need another center, they need a scoring winger.

    It remains to be seen. . . . .

Chuck is right, all signs point to Ruutu which is HORRIBLE

Boomer loves grit. He over rates guys like Ruutu.

Based on the tweets, he is the only guy that makes sense

It's not any of them, it is somebody who played in Sochi.

I am with you Prod. If I could get MSL, SIGNED FOR NEXT SEASON AS WELL, for rental Cally, I would do that in a second.

It would confuse me why TB would do that considering there is a clear risk to re-sign Cally, unless the conditional pick is a 2nd or 3rd rounder if Cally leaves.

But maybe TB would take the chance. A lot of people think the guy Boomer is talking about is MSL, so maybe it is possible.

I don't understand why Ranger fans would be against that deal to add MSL for this season and next season at 5.62 mill.

The guy is on pace for 35 goals and 80 points, without Stamkos. Numbers Cally could never dream of. And he is a + 15. Last season he had 17 goals and 60 points in 48 games (which is 29 and 102 over 82 games...again #'s Cally can only dream of). And he was E on a bad TB team. Led the league in scoring.

Yes he plays next season at 39, but so what. He is getting it done big time. And he and Richards have great chemistry.

This would be a HR to me. Cally wants 6.5 per. Deal him now for MSL if possible.

I still don't see TB doing it, but who knows.

Boomer was clearly hinting at a Cally for Marty St. Louis trade. Like it or not. That's what Boomer was throwing out there as a done deal.

That trade makes zero sense for TB unless they think they can lock up Callahan....Even so they want to trade a great player (old mind you) for a chance to overpay for Ryan Callahan. Just a bad trade for them so I don't buy it

St Louis here hell yes. Who cares he is 38 he is a great player still
