    it isn't right, fair, necessary!!!

now we have a big injury to a player that what, won nothing there, played for a team that probably blew anyway!!!!

olympics, its for amatures that can tell a story later in life, if they never make it to the show!!!

Youre out of hibernation? Injuries can happen anytime but I agree it should be for college kids.

Pasta not one of these athletes are pure amateurs. Do you really think the 1980 USER team was amateurs. I want to see the best of the best. It happens once every four years.

Not every sport has a pro avenue to pursue so it's not a standard you can hold all of the events to. I prefer to see the best vs. the best especially since the World's don't draw all the top players due to them coinciding with the NHL playoffs.

If you want to watch amateur hockey players the U20s are pretty great and they do them every year.

if the NHL players dont go to Olympics nobody is going to watch it, lets face it hockey is dead in some area's, we can't even steal 2 minutes of sportscenter. We need exposure, all around the world, the Olympics helps alittle bit. its a good idea, injuries can happen anywhere, in practice at there house etc, we are lucky we lost zuc for 3 weeks a bunch of teams lost players for the whole seasonl. deal with it, it happens once every 4 years

first, i won a world championship as an amature and let me tell you it was the best experience of my life , there is NOTHING like it! better then the championship i won as a pro...

2nd, it gives unkowns a chance,

3..pro's we see all the time, y do you need to see the best of the best for 2 weeks?

and because of the scheduling of these games u knew the result b4 games were even played... twitter

the chance of injury, which we know was a possibilty and happened to our best playmaker, can't be happy bout that!

disrupted season....... now u risk further injury to those who did not play..

i watched zero minutes of olympic hockey, but i guess if u r a hockey fanatic, i guess i would understand

    * u sayin the 1980 USA team were made up of players who were all pro athletes?

I'm saying the 1980 USSR team had zero amateurs. There is a reason why its the miracle on ice, it will never be duplicated. The main reason, no one will underestimate anyone. There are no hide always. Everyone is out in the open. Sure you could find a story where a college all star team goes on to win a tournament, it will never duplicate 1980, why? No cold war. The only thing I could imagine duplicating would be a Cuban national team play in a tournament in MLB and win it all beating the dodgers, cardinals, red Sox and Yankees, that would the equalivalent and it will never happen.

Your right as much as we say we want to see the best vs the best doesn't always happen and not everyone will agree who is the best. Is Cally better than bobby Ryan, better than jack Johnson or Kyle okposo. Probably not, so did we send our best? Sending a college team against a country that doesn't believe in not sending their best would be like Angola vs the dream team.

really you would rather see a bunch of nobodys's on team usa and team canada..... wait they already have a under 21 team how many people watch those? nobody, thats why it would be dumb if no nhlers go to olympics..

and to answer your question, yes we see pro's all the time, but we don't see a bunch of stacked teams play each other for something that is worth something very important, (i dont call the all star game important as people dont even try). so it makes it interesting. Don't you want to see your teams players succeed at a high level? like hank? knowing that he can carry sweden on his back gives the rangers confidence that he is worth of a stanley cup caliber goalie. we saw that cally didn't offer anything to team usa etc etc.

Oh btw i did watch a lot of the games not all but some, 7am and 10am too early for you?.

your points are very weak IMO

if you want to see unknowns get a shot watch the under 21 tourney's there all unknowns but nobody watches them. hmmmm wonder why

mr sleeps, how did USA do in bronze game? i didn't see a minute of it, but i listened to fan today and what they had to say about the effort these guys gave proves my point! what do they really have to prove? that the gold medal is all they were shootin for? they make millions of dollars doin what they do here in USA, what are they playin for reallly? some of these vets don't even give it their all here till mid season, its just another game for them... put 20 some odd unknown hungry kids out there and i bet you you will get the best of their best, not a bunch of proven players who could give a crud about doin what they do every day... how many pro players do you know that put it all on the line every game?

To the man they were drained from losing the big game against Canada. It was not shocking they came out flat against Finland.
