I'm not sure what the problem with the ban is? I see it as a good thing, they were both you-know-what, I don't support banning for disagreements, but I do for people that are complete assholes, and that's what happened, no loss IMO, neither had much to say worth reading, should be a great year here!

I wasn't suggesting you be mod.

I was suggesting you start a thread nominating someone to be mod.

In the past, we've had guys nominated who say "no thanks" as you would, which is fine.

it is a shame that off topic threads had led to this...if anything my recommendation before banning would have been to locked the thread and put out a sticky thread warning all to stay on topic and if you wanted to talk political or social to do it in an appropriate forum

Al, I wish it didn't go down like this, I feel the forum was gaining traction as we were entering the season, once that happened the O/T would have disappeared. However the umpire has ruled. I wish that there could be some type of brokered settlement but it appears that ship has sailed.

Just a quick word from a Blazer fan who stumbled into this thread. I have been posting on Denny's basketball boards for years now, and he may be opinionated and loud at times, but he has always been overly fair regarding forum speech and treatment of posters. The Blazer board is by far the busiest forum on this site, with possibly 1000+ members and 50+ regulars. In the years on this Blazer site, a total or five or six people have been banned. Denny is a proud Libritarian (his cross to bare) who believes strongly in in giving people freedom to speak their minds. But in the end, this is his site, and although he rarely exerts his pressure, his word is law. And you would be hard pressed to find a board half as lenient as and well managed as his Blazer board.

I didn't agree with the opinions of Rick and 59 on some of the threads about society which had nothing to do with the Yankees. I respect their opinions even though they are completely different from mine. I am not a fan of some of the screen names that popped up and felt that I was being linked as one of them. Privately I PM'ed with Rick and felt that he generally accepted that I was not one to setup a second account. I thought the issue was dying down.

Oh well. Hopefuly with the season starting up the board will regain that traction.

So where are folk going now? Too many idiots on reddit for me to stomach posting or even reading there (Disclaimer--there are also some really solid posters at that site).

Al, I feel Rick did accept that from you. His issues were with others, not you.

I never thought badly of Rick I thought he was a very good poster and hope he would reconsider coming back. Like I said outside of our social belief differences I liked Rick.

And here I thought we were best friends. Always good to have you on board Rusty, especially with all the dynamic & in-sightful threads you create. Not to mention all the in depth and intelligent responses you give to all the posts. Just don't know what ANY sports board would be without you. GO YANKEES!

The strength of any forum like this is different opinions which stimulate interaction and even sometimes consensus. Glad to see you back Rick, I think its great that you and Denny were able to work out the issues. I know that this site is better for having you and everyone else posting.

Well said major. Welcome back Rick. Glad you and Denny were able to work things out. I like this and our ranger board a lot and post as much as I can. I also belong to a terrific Giants board called big blue huddle. One thing I like about that one and maybe our moderators can look at going forward here is when a topic comes up from time to time whether to do with giants or totally different topic where posters opinions after being expressed back and forth and gets to the beating the dead horse stage a lock is put on the thread effectively ending it and move on to other topics before the raw feelings and hard words take over and thread totally disintegrates. Even though this is a yankee board I don't mind from time to time another local team or sports topic being discussed as this is in the large picture a sports board. I hope going forward we can get away from the political and societal topics that occur on this board from time to time as these are the ones that generally disintegrate into everything no one wants to read or discuss. That being said glad everyone is back in the good graces and look forward to the yankees kicking some ass this season.

Hey as a Giant fan, I'm going to check that out, thanks mrmel. And your right, the lesson to be considered here is O/T and what threshold to pain can it cause.
