I was wondering the same thing. If he plays tomorrow night, a trade is not that close I would say.

A few places now reporting that St. Louis has indeed asked for a trade out of TB...

The Olympic snub was the beginning of the end for a proud player and his GM

Don't think TB does St.louis straight up for cally at least not willingly but if St.Louis still pissed at yzerman and starts badmouthing him in the media and it affects team morale who knows maybe TB bites the bullet and makes the deal to fulfill boomer's prophesy LOL. St.Louis has the hammer in this case since he has the nmc and since he has house in ct and can basically say trade me to rangers only the heat could get very hot in TB shortly if not already

Apparently he'll only accept a trade to NY or Boston i guess since he's from CT. They said Yzerman dosent really want to deal him to Boston but is still working with Sather. I'd give up a 2nd and decent prospect with Callahan probably.

Yes St Louis is still very productive, but he is 38 years old. Why should Sather give up a draft pick for him? I'd love to see St Louis in a Rangers uniform, but Callahan straight up should be it. If Tampa wants to give Callahan what he wants then more power to them. If not, then the only thing they would be losing out of all this is a 38 year old nearing the end of his career.

Why would TB trade St. Louis who's signed for another year and is a better scorer for a UFA in Callahan 1 for 1? That would be crazy on their part, especially with Stamkos out.

Yeah but it still dosen't mean Tampa has to trade him, so they won't give him away without getting equal value. Even if he's unhappy he still has to suit up. I'm saying they won't trade him without getting a pick or prospect with Callahan, not that they don't want Callahan in general.

Hockey just isn't about offense 71 and St. Louis is an old fart. Sounds like to me he wants to play one more year then retire. So why on earth would you give up any picks for that guy or prospects. It's stupid. Plus if he demanded a trade and only wants the Rangers, I'd make Tampa give us a pick with St. Louis for Cally. They basically have no leverage. The Rangers can trade Callahan to anybody.

Would you want to trade a 30g scorer with a year left for 2 months of Callahan straight up if the roles were reversed? I wouldn't.

That's actually dumb on the Rangers part, they need him in the lineup while he's still here.

McKenzie saying Rangers and Girardi working on 6 year deal @5.5m

Sign Girardi and trade Cally. Do it

St Louis only wants to come to NY. I think they figure out a way to get it done.

Then everyone in the media should be blowing Boomer

Teams that are calling Tampa Bay about Martin St. Louis are being told that St. Louis is locked in on the Rangers as the only team he would waive his no-move clause for. (Darren Dreger)

Dreger said on TSN Radio earlier this evening, “the Martin St. Louis trade scenario won’t go away and it won’t go away until the bell of the trade deadline on March 5th. We know or at least we are told that the Lightning did reach out to the Rangers before the Olympics to see what kind of fit St. Louis might have in New York and return there would be. There wasn’t a fit then and it wouldn’t make any sense for Callahan and Marty St. Louis in a one for one but if the Rangers were able to beef it up to the point where it did make some sense and they threw in the assets necessary, maybe that is something Tampa would consider.”

Very reasonable price for G. Right Dmen who play his kind of minutes against the other team's top lines, and who do it at a high level, do not go on trees. I'd say he's way more valuable than Callahan, yet Callahan wants 1.5m more per year. Laughable.
