I am with you 100% Dis.

Re-sign Girardi, and make a deal of Cally FOR MSL. Maybe we have to throw in some other lower piece with Cally to get it done. Do it and move on.

MSL wants to be traded, and only wants to come to the Rangers. We have to deal Cally. It makes too much sense not to happen.

And no shot I play Cally tomorrow night if a deal is close. He gets hurt and we are f'd. Sit him for sure if we are close to a deal. Tomorrow night will tell us all we need to know for the moment. If Cally plays a deal is not that close. If he doesn't he will be gone real soon.

Unless he REALLY lowers his demands quickly Cally is done as a Ranger.

For sure Prod. Girardi hs WAY more value to us than Cally, and it isn't close IMO.

6 years at 5.5 per is a great deal for us IMO.

I rather 5 years, but that extra year is okay. And a cap hit of only 5.5 is fine IMO. That is a solid deal for us and Girardi. I bet he would get 6 mill per + on the open market.

The Rangers are committed to sending Ryan Callahan and Dan Girardi out of town if they are not signed by the March 5 deadline. (NY Post)

On Dan Girardi, the Rangers are closing in on what he has asked for, six-years and $5.5 million per season, but Girardi has indicated that he isn’t ready or willing to sign at those terms. Girardi would be considered the “prize rental” of the season. (NY Post)

On Ryan Callahan, the Rangers captain is searching for a seven-year deal worth between $45 million and $50 million. There is “widespread belief” that the Sabres will pay Callahan what he wants if he becomes a free agent. (NY Post)

The Rangers have offered him five-years and $30 million and are concerned about contract length. The Rangers are looking for one NHL player and one prospect or high draft pick in exchange for Callahan. (NY Post)

St. Louis told Tampa management that he would accept a trade to the Rangers and only the Rangers. (NY Post)

Glen Sather is not willing to add young players or prospects to a deal and talks have not progressed since the roster freeze was lifted on Monday. (NY Post)

I bet Girardi is signed very soon.

I am still hoping they get a deal with Cally for St Louis

At least with MSL holding a NTC gun to Yzerman's head it makes more sense to get it done now

“It absolutely could happen by March 5 or it could drag into the offseason. What we know is that the TBL reached out to the Rangers prior to the Olympics to gauge interest in the possibility of trading such a dynamic and impactful player in their organization. It wasn’t a fit at that point and it will be complicated process to make it fit between now and March 5 because Steve Yzerman is not going to give Marty St. Louis away. This will be a difficult negotiation and as much as the Rangers love Marty St. Louis and what he might bring to their team, he is 38 years old and that is going to give prime assets for. (Darren Dreger on TSN)

“I would be shocked if St. Louis is traded by the deadline and that if he really wants out of TB and the indication is that he does, it’s much more likely to be resolved in the offseason but you never say never. The thing that I would look at if I were Yzerman is that if he was playing unhappy before…he is playing really well. The TBL are a good team and I don’t know how you can get immediate and true value for St. Louis now that doesn’t interrupt the TB progress towards making the playoffs and being a contender in the East.” (Bob McKenzie on TSN)

“He is one of those guys where you can almost discount the age because he won the Art-Ross last year, he is playing great this year and is showing no signs of slowing down.” (James Duthie on TSN)

Believe from here Mr. St.Louis turns up the heat on Stevie over his head Yzerman and starts leaking out nasty rumors about him or maybe a compromising picture or 2. commandment #11 - Boomer is never wrong about a trade. Ha ha ha, And if Girardi number is true 6yr at 5.5 I sign him in a second.

The Rangers are under more pressure than TB is to deal, so Sather shouldn't be playing too much hardball if they really want MSL. Give them a Fast or a 2nd rounder if that gets it done. If they ask for a Miller or a 1st rounder forget it but Yzerman will not do this for charity. As for Girardi that's not a bad price for him, I just worry a bit about going 6 years as opposed to 4 or so, but I guess they can figure it out down the road.

Dear Soon to be Former Captain Callahan,

See negotiations from the soon to be the next Captain of the New York Rangers.
Danny G. He knows he could get more on the open market but he is showing he WANTS to stay a Ranger and help the team by keeping his salary demands reasonable.

If this goes through, I may have a new jersey purchased in his honor.

    Signed

Loyal Ranger Fan Big Daddy Al

so girardi gets that money cause of the minutes he plays, thats it?

so you don't care that 90% of his shots are wide of net, that he hardly fights anyone, not much of a crease clearer, doesn't defend star players, slow skater, gets horrible calls against that usually hurts team badly, wiffs at puck least 3x a game , not a very good outlet passer, bad turnovers that end up in our net....

Pasta you're a good dude but this is such bs it hurts...he doesnt defend star players? You realize he gets the oppositions top line literally every game right?

Among other disagreements...but that's what struck me most.

I really believe Pasta watches the games with his eyes closed half the time. I've been waiting 7 seasons for Callahan to consistently learn how to pass the puck with some sort of accuracy.

Also, Callahan has to play the gritty block shots and hitting game to make up for the fact that he's not a highly skilled offensive player. His body isn't built for it which is why he's often injured.

Anybody hear any confirmation that Callahan will be playing (or not) tonight? One of the "Boomer rumors" (thank you, I'll be here all week) is that we was not going to suit up tonight.
