    6 years @ 5.5m per.

    Many places reporting.

Absolute home run. There is a reason everyone was saying he would have been the #1 rental of the season.

Love it. Especially given the cap situation.

Now go get something impactful for our delusional Captain

Looks like we gave him that extra year for a few ticks lower of a cap hit. Thats fine by me, he deserves it and probably could have gotten much more in FA. THATS what it looks like when a guy really wants to be here....

I'm OK with this. He learned how to play AV's game. Now, to dump that greedy assclown Cally.

Awesome deal. Win for both sides. Cally should take a look at how Girardi AND the Rangers were fair and follow the same path.

Yeah this is fair. I think Girardi also saw the handwriting on the wall that he was going to get traded. Will see if Cally likes the idea of finishing out the year in a city he doesn't get to pick.

I really don't even want Cally at 5/30m at this point

5:03PM: “Dan has been a Ranger for his entire career, signing with us as an undrafted free agent and working his way to become a top defenseman in the NHL. “His dedication to this club, as a leader both on the ice and in the locker room, is invaluable to this team. We are happy to have been able to ensure that he will continue to wear the Blueshirt.” (Glen Sather in the Rangers press release)

4:45PM: Girardi’s deal includes a full no-move clause in the first three-years and a modified no-trade clause in the final three-years. (Pierre LeBrun)

4:40PM: Girardi has agreed to terms on a contract extension. (Larry Brooks)

The deal is six-years at $5.5 million. (Darren Dreger)

As much as I rag on Girardi I'm glad he decided to stay. 6y is a bit long imo with him but he should be solid for at least another 4 and then they can see where they stand. He's gotten better as the year has gone on in the system.

Right. I would have wanted 5 years, but the extra year was needed, so be it. Plus 5.5 per as a cap hit isn't bad at all.

Yes. # 1 pair locked up for a very decent cap hit. Wonder what next year will bring for Staal.

I was thinking that too Chuck. How bad does Staal want to play with his bros?

This has to make Cally say what am I doing here. Why can Girardi take a good, solid, fair deal for all, and Cally is trying to break the bank. Wake up Cally. Take a deal of 6 mill or so per, and be happy man. That is fair for what Cally does. I just don't get it. Is it all about money only?

I'm almost hoping like Disturbed said that they deal him for a bigger forward or maybe part of a St. Louis deal. Someone who's signed for another year but gives them a different element. They still are not equipped to beat Boston in the playoffs.
