Just a little shit on this slow day............

Only 4 members of the 300 win club have lost LESS then 200 games. Randy Johnson (166), Roger Clemens (184), Christy Matherson (188) & Eddie Plank (194)

Only 2 pitchers in the 250 win club have less then 10 career shut outs. Jamie Moyer with (9) & our own Andy Pettitte with ony (4)

Who would have ever thought the the days of COMPLETE GAMES & throwing SHUTOUTS would become a pretty much obsolete statistic. I mean seriously, Pettitte pitched what 18 years? And only had 4 shut outs? That's just Ridiculous.

when you have a fresh Mariano Riveria why bother having Pettitte at 120 pitches throw the ninth inning?

Al seriously if it were just a 9th inning thing I really wouldn't be making this an issue with Mo waiting in the wings. But you're taking about a pitcher (Pettitte) that averaged MAYBE 7 innings a game during his career & this is becoming the norm.

Just a footnote to this Al, You look at a great pitcher like Justin Verlander. No Mo in the bull pen & yet he's only had 6 shut outs in 9 years.
