I don't disagree jam, I am simply saying he better have the goods or we are F'd. We are putting a lot of hope into him. We'll see. From where I sit, we very much reached for him, even if he is good, but we'll see how it plays out.
They came out with guns blazing, but as the Bruins begin to exert their physicality the Rangers begin to fold
Nash has size but since the concussions doesn't play the same....He played more physical in Columbus. I understand why Dump doesn't want to trade Stepan but SC is right - This team has to get bigger and Kesler despite the risks is a way to do that.
I'm amazed they beat Chicago twice but they are almost an easier matchup with Crawford and not as physical.
We need size with talent...BADLY. If we could do Stepan and decent pieces for Kesler, I think we have to do it. We need more size. And we better hope McIlrath is ready to give that to us on D next season. If he does our D is solid with the big 3, McIlrath, Moore, and Klein. If he doesn't we are in trouble. Nice shot by Richards, we needed that. Let's see if we get some emotion going now.
Rangers can still win this game. The difference has just been Rask, despite the fact they push us around
In a way it is a shame we must buy Richards out this summer. If his contract was 1 mill or so less, and maybe lasted for 2 or 3 more years tops, we'd keep him for sure. He is going to score 20 + and is a solid # 2 C still, plus he is a leader, but with that deal I don't see how we can keep him.
Agree Chuck. Richards has played pretty well this year but even the cap hit isn't nearly as big of a deal as the stupid CBA cap recapture penalty
Hard not to be frustrated with Stepan this season. I am frustrated with Nash also. And Kreider hasn't been that great either since his hot start. That line had a great 12 or so game run with Nash on fire, but outside of that they really have been a downer all season.
They need a defenseman who stands out a little skill wise. McDonagh has some of that but they really need a Yandle type. Been saying this for years, since Zubov.
Yeah, that is the biggest issue no doubt Dis. The thing is, we will add a C to go with Stepan next season, but with Richards gone unless the new guy is really very good, that may be pretty much a wash, or a small plus only. That's the way it is. So does that really make us better? Plus Richards will sign with one of our Met rivals and be a thorn in our side, mark that down as well.
Very good chance Richards will go 20 goals and 60 points this season. We buy him out and add another C, do we get THAT much better? That's the sad reality.
They've got guys who are big, just not physical. As for Kreider, how often do you see players come into the NHL from College who are a physical force? I know their are some, but not many.
Depends what we do with that Richards money. If we can sign two players with it that fit better the system better than Callahan then yes.
They need to replace both Richards and Stepan, or make Stepan the #3 and lose Brassard. They need two bigger better C to really compete. This is their opp.to make it happen with Kesler/Stastny.
