I think Lillard will prove to be a better clutch player.

My first thought was that Ireland was suggesting that Damian was a whiny flopping little bitch. Then I realized he was talking about his talent.

Yeah I agree they are nothing alike. As much as I hate cp3 I think he is the best PG in the world right now. He is amazing at controlling the game.

I do not know how anyone that has watched the two play thinks they are even remotely similar outside of being point guards.

Yup. He's a truly gifted point guard. Probably the best we've seen since Kidd.

Through a players first two years in the league he has been most like : Allen Iverson. Although when you factor in 3 point shooting he really does become the next Damian Lillard in class all his own.

I hate to make this comparison, but to me, Lillard is like a sane Stephon Marbury with leadership skills.

A pretty good comparable. An under control, team-oriented Starbury. I'll take that. And more. :)

Style wise very similar but stats wise the first 2 season Dame is better and shoots the 3 way better. But I do like a team, sane Marbury compairison

"The Next (insert name)" is always an inefficient and confusing way of saying "The next great (insert position)". People automatically pick apart the differences in their games, which will never make a player a successor of a great player. Instead we should be looking to see if their level of play, not style, has a similar impact on their team and on the league.

To me, I think this is more of what he was trying to say. That CP3 is the best in the world (which is true)... he wasnt saying EXACTLY like CP3... but, that he may at some point be the best PG in the league.

I disagree. Both are very quick, have some great moves around the basket, and know how to hit big shots. And both are on the smallish side, with Lillard of course being 3 inches taller. Lillard is also starting to get better at that soft teardrop shot, which reminds me of Paul every time I see it.

I really don't see any strong similarities between them. Dame is more of a combo guard and CP3 more of a pure PG.

Damian Lillard will see this thread and start flopping and get more free throw. if you doubt Lillard, he will explode the rest of his career
