Did anyone watch it & what's your opinions? Me, with all the awards Gravity was winning (And BTW: I didn't care for the movie) I thought for shit sure they were going to win best picture. Ellen DeGeneress I thought did a great job. Lizi Minelli looked like she was stoned off her ass I grew up in love with Kim Novak but last night & I know she's now 82 I felt embarrassed for her. And all the surgery she's had done made her look like the joker from batman. For the life of me I'll never understand why beautiful woman who if they would just leave things alone would have in all likelihood aged gracefully, (Linda Evans & Pricilla Presley come to mind) have to screw with nature & literally fuck themselves up. Overall though I thought it was a very good show.
I had the following questions. What was up with Kim Novak's face and how many Rx pills did she pop before the show? Was Travolta's wig on too tight when he butchered the name of he performer he was out there to introduce? Why put an 87 year old legend up there when he's clearly struggling?
I use to think that it would be a good idea to have 85+ year old legends come on the show just so people & there piers could give them one last giant ovation as a way to thank them for there contributions to the industry before they die. But after seeing Kim Novak & my favorite actor growing up Sidney Poiteir last night, Maybe it would be a bad idea. I mean can you just imagine the remaining stars that are in there 90s coming out.................................. 1) Eli Wallach (99) 2) Zsa Zsa Gabor (97) 3) Kirk Douglas (97) 4) Maureen O'hara (94) 5) Mickey Rooney (94) 6) Betty White (92) 7) Christopher Lee (92) 8) Carol Channing (92) 9) Rhonda Flemming (91) 10) Doris Day (90) 11) Jack Carter (90) 12) Lauren Bacall (90) Or maybe Chuck Berry & Tony Bennett (both 88) could jam out. Or Ex James Bonds Roger Moore (87) & Sean Connery (84) could Arm wrestle Or Funny men Dick Van Dyke (89) & Jerry Lewis (88) & Don Rickles (88) could have a joke off Anyway after much thought........................................bad idea.
I also forgot TV sluths James Garner - Rockford files (86) and Mike Conners - Mannix (89) could have a foot race.
Kim Novak is a victim of the Hollywood obsession with youthfulness (in combination with her own issues) but she is still a legend and the disrespect she's been getting online is disappointing. Glad to see a few people taking up for her. The people applauding 60-year old Christie Brinkley for the way she looks today will be throwing tomatoes at her in ten years. I didn't see too many movies this year so I can't really comment on the winners and losers except that I'm glad Matthew McConaughey won since he's been putting in serious work over the last few years and seems like a genuine person--if a bit nutty. Most good actors tend to have bizarre personalities anyway.
I was also happy with McConaugey winning. He's an excellent actor. If you haven't seen him in this movie you should. Also in something called MUD. But you're dead wrong about Kim Novak. I know what you're saying about actresses having to keep up there appearences. But Kim Novak who I fell in love with when I saw her in Vertigo & then Bell book & candle. But she hasn't been in front of the Cameras in almost 25 years. This again goes to what I spoke of earlier about just letting nature take its course. I saw her in a very short interview about 2-3 years ago with Robert Osborne, some 20 years after she turned her back on hollywood & she was aging very gracefully. I remember thinking DAMN! for late 70s she still looked good. I don't know what happened to her in the last 2-3 years but Sorry Hollywood's obsession with youthfulness had NOTHING to do with it since she hadn't been a part of Hollywood for decades.
McConaughey and Leto earned their awards, no one else was close. The actress awards were much tighter. Although I don't like the trend of rewarding a women for acting in a movie directed by an incestuous pedophile, but that is just me. Gravity got all the technical kudos, and deserved them, but it wasn't the best movie in that group of 9. Besides the academy is going to throw weight behind social justice issues whenever it can. Afterall we really haven't paid our dues for slavery yet. <roll eyes>. It was the wrong year for American Hustle, but a great movie with excellent performances and well an interesting story to boot. And Her would have run the table if Federal Courts allowed you to marry your smartphone after overturning state bans of operating system marriage. Just a little ahead of its time. McConaughey is a Texan, if you livev100 miles from a city, you likely won't get him, lol!

I read somewhere that Demi Moore has spent over 500 K on body "adjustments". Newsflash you can be 80, look 20 and the grim reaper will still come for you when your time is up. Damn shame that we have to age and die but its a fact.
If the part about the academy getting behind films about social issues was true, why wasn't "The Butler" nominated for anything. 12 years a slave was an excellent movie. And I agree about Gravity, personally as I mentioned I really didn't think it was all that special. I share your feeling about Woody Allen, the mans a sleeze bag.
Rick, The Butler just doesn't stack up to the 'great social crimes' of American history, such as slavery and the early days of AIDS. There are others such as our treatment of veterans, gov't overreach and infringements of most of the bill of rights, etc. But those don't align with Hollywood's agenda and you aren't gonna see movies on those topics....at least in the near future.
Clown. Let me guess ricky, now you'll go back to the Reddit board with more about how this site has nothing but bigots again. DAMN! it's gotta really suck to be you.
