Holy crap! Seamus! Where have you been? LOL? Yeah. I don't like giving up picks Seamus. However, team is young in many areas. They have Allen, McIlrath and Skjei who probably all could be in the NHL soon and one roster spot for them. They have Miller, Lindberg and Fast who probably could be in the NHL and one roster spot for them. Let's face it. If the draft was done over from last year, Duclair was going in the first round and maybe Buchnevich as well. To me, I was opposed to giving Cally who I think is getting old fast, that absurd contract.

If anything, we get accused of overrating our players or prospects. I don't think Cally at 29 was adding a ton to the team this year. He clearly has lost a step. I wasn't a Zucc fan to start the season. I realize now Torts was ruining him. However, Zucc has been been 10 times more valuable to this team than Callahan.

Throw defense out the window....St. Louis will score. Just hope he scores more
than he gives up as player on the ice. We will find out if team plays defense.
It's all a crapshoot, even on the ice.

If people are upset about the picks I can see that side. But to be clear, the only person at fault for Cally being traded was Cally. His summer request to get $7.5m x 6 years is one of the most ridiculous things I have heard. Him not going down from $6.3 x 6 is the reason he is not a Ranger. I wish him well. He will end up in Buffalo and it will work in part for both him and Buffalo but not because of production. They need a player to sell to fans and his style of play and work ethic will be popular

On a side note. Am I the only person here with bosses dumber than dog shit who are literally mentally retarded with no qualifications to do their job?

31 - McIlarath could turn out to be crap. Stall is good and I mentioned him, so was Leetch and Kovalev. Outside of those 3, Please tell me 1st rounder that we drafted that turned out to be good. I can make the case for 2nd, 3rd, 6th, 7th and undrafted (Girardi), that we made great picks but we are very unlucky with 1st.

    31 - I know my hockey.....

Rather have a 1st rounder and miss on it, than not have one at all.

Rather have 3+ years of St Louis then a 20-30th pick in 1st round

Dis, while I'm happy to have St. Louis playing for the Rangers, lets wait and see what he can do with this lineup.

I've always been for development of our own players and keeping the picks. While giving up the picks bothers me a bit, I agree it is time to go for it. Also agree there is a window of about 4 years. Disappointed no more real moves were made. Still think we're too small to go too far this year. Hopefully that changes next year. If we try to win it all by trading some kids and getting FA's, and fail, it will truly be time to start over for real. Sather can't hang on forever.

They definately don't need anymore players under 5'11 now. This years draft is very weak overall so the 23rd pick will be even more of a crapshoot. If they get all the way to the ECF it's worth it.

This pick will bother if Tampa does something good with it, and St. Louis is a distant memory.

Does this team have the look of an ECF team?

Not if they face a team like Boston. But vs other teams its possible. We have potentially 3 good scoring lines now

Has Glen Sather lost his mind? Why do you give up a 1st and a 2nd with Callahan for Martin St. Louis?

    Oh brother

Did you want to a) lose him for nothing or (worse) b) give him $39m/6 yr deal

Because St Louis is still an elite scorer in this league and will be for at least another year or 2 and Callahan isn't and never was? No team in the league takes Cally over St Louis for this year or the next 2 most likely. Even at 38 (especially if they have to pay Callahan 6-7 million per)

Seriously Malco what is up with this board sometimes. I get not wanting to give TB the picks but how can you NOT like St Louis especially over giving Cally a ridiculous contract he was demanding. I love Cally but he got what he deserved and I will laugh my azzzz off if he doesn't get 6/36 by a team in July
