http://realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/429...out_for_season/ <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>The Sonics will enter their 40th season without one of their key younger players, as the Seattle Post-Intelligencer learned Thursday night that center Robert Swift will miss the season with a right knee injury. According to a Sonics player and another member of the organization, Swift's MRI revealed major damage that will cost him the year. Team physician Richard Zorn will examine the MRI results today and the team is expected to make an announcement this afternoon. The Sonics player said the team was informed of the news before Thursday's 111-107 overtime preseason win over Golden State at Spokane Arena. Sonics coach Bob Hill refused to address the extent of Swift's injury before the game, telling reporters the team would handle the results upon its return to Seattle. Swift, 20, was injured in the first two minutes of the team's 103-88 win over the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday. "I feel really bad for Robert because he worked so hard," Hill said after Wednesday's game. "He came in to Furtado (Center) every day and lifted and it made a difference. I was really excited for him."</div> That's terrible, what's up with all these big injuries? But Swift really worked hard this summer to improve his body and add muscle, and he was just named the starting center a few days ago. Well, all that is shot down now. I feel bad for all these guys. I mean you got Swift and McCants out for season, Marvin Williams with a big setback broken hand that will keep him out for the first 2 months of the season, Pau Gasol out until about January, Kobe barely making it on opening night, Bosh with plantar fasciiitis, Amare trying to make a comeback after missing 79 games last year, etc. All of these very key players are getting hurt for long periods of time. I feel bad, and it's even worse that a few of them are due for breakout years. Well, I guess this means Petro is the starter again, and Sene gets a break.
There goes his new look, but this is disappointing because I had some high hopes for him this season. Johan petro will need to step up, but if not.. the young sene I'm sure will step up. And by the way thanks balla on the note about firefox 2.0. I'm digging the spell check.
Man, I was hoping Swift would finally step up and play like they thought he could when they picked him. Stuff like this is why I'm glad we have Chris Wilcox.

I mean sure he'll get some extra minutes at center, but Swift is a much different player than Wilcox. It's on Petro now.
Thats a MAJOR blow. Collison is tearing it up in the preseason..... lets hope him and wilcox can pick up the extra minutes between them.
Looks like it's gonna be another sh*tty year for the Sonics. Swift was the one player who worked hard on defense. Too bad.
They will be fine without him, he only played 20 minutes a game last year. Yeah it sucks that he's out but they have a deep enough rotation that it won't hurt them.
Why can't they just start Collison at PF and Wilcox at C? Ain't that what they did last season? I don't really keep up with Seattle so I don't know if Collison or Wilcox is injured or anything but I think Wilcox would do way better than Sene.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (CB4AllStar @ Oct 28 2006, 07:23 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Looks like it's gonna be another sh*tty year for the Sonics.
