    Crazy season going on here.

The Grantland crew (Simmons, Lowe, etc) and the ABC crew (Simmons, Collins, Rose, etc) are really throwing some love the Bulls way.

    * Bulls are the best surprise story of the NBA right now (passing Phoenix Suns).
    * Noah is a lock to be 1st team All-NBA.
    * Noah should finish in the top-5 for MVP voting this season.
    * Lowe was at the Sloan conference (SABR for hoops) and the quant heads were just going crazy about what Thibs is doing here.

Noone wants to play the Bulls in the playoffs.

Nobody really thinks the Bulls could topple the Heat or Pacers in the playoffs, but many think it could go 6 or 7.

    ----

If the front office can just get Thibs some better pieces to play with, we could really do something here the next 3 years.

Crazy to think that Noah could be all-NBA. Of course, under Thibs, Rose was MVP.

The Bulls very well may have the best coach in the NBA right now and the best all-around center. Assuming Rose comes back all-star level, the front office has the core they need to build a champion.

But, can they do it? Gonna take more than DJ and JIMMER!!!!

It's kind of similar to 2010-11, when the Bulls kind of surprised the shit out of the NBA world. Difference is that in 2010-11, the Bulls went from a playoff contender to a championship contender and this season they've gone from a tanking candidate to a team expected to have HCA in the first round.

It's all very nice, but this is bound to end badly.

The 8th seed is 26-32, starting Elton Brand at center. The third seed is the Toronto Raptors.

The two teams supposed to be kicking ass are. Head and shoulders above the rest.

    8th seed is 26-32.

I don't know that Noah and a healthy Rose and a versatile supporting cast would not be enough to go all the way. A third star would be welcome and might increase chances if the right mix but the lack thereof doesn't necessarily doom us. Anthony for instance would be a pretty interesting but expensive experiment but Rose + Noah + Thib's = a pretty darn good chance especially since Thib's has that knack of making role players so much better.

I agree TB#1. We need a 3rd star. Melo, along with the current Noah, and Rose getting back to being an all-star could be enough.

That being said, our defense and the way we play it could have made a difference this season with the way that Gibson and Noah are playing! Our defense could be the 3rd star needed. That is if Rose had not gotten hurt.

For 2014-15, the Bulls are going to need a fully-functioning Rose and another legit starting wing. If they get both, they can make the current EC's "Big 2" a big 3.

Legit scoring wing is the key, as it was, what, 3 years ago? We need a guy that can create his own shot and hit the three. Doesn't have to be a stout defender, although that would be great as well (but those guys are superstars).

I agree that a scoring threat wing is crucial. Wings create balance between the big men and the small and quicks. Guy doesn't need to be a star stud (would be nice) but a threat to spread the floor create spacing and get him some points would really flesh the team out and maximize our opportunity.

You mean we shouldn't be starting the 35 year old Dunleavy at SF next season?

With a 100% or close to it Rose and Noah playing at his current level Mike D Jr's 11 pig might be enough. An upgrade for sure would be better but yeah either at 2 or 3 scoring punch would be most welcome.
