promoting arab spring as a good thing... Benghazi was because of a youtube video... Obamacare... world wide apology tour... IRS targeting political groups... Fast and furious.. I am a proponent of universal health care. I also like some of the economic policies that have been enacted. There are other things that I am a fan of, but they elude me at the moment. There are many things I am also not a fan of. That being said, the ultimate ideas and actions that have been taken were not his own and are things that have been discussed for quite some time (but you can say that about most ideas).
We did not get Universal health care. More people have lost the insurance they had than those that became insured. Then that is only talking about insurance, not health care. We lost our insurance provided by my former employers, so I bought us a Medicare advantage plan. Wonderful, now I find there is only one doctor in the entire area that is in plan, and she (the Dr,) is not taking new patients. Wtf! I don't know who is making out well in ths system now, but it isn't some of us that were doing just fine.

Maybe you missed the part where I said "some good ideas, POOR EXECUTION." Obamacare was supposedly born out of the idea of universal health care. It didn't ultimately end up as such. If I'm to believe it originated out of the concept of universal health care, I believe it's a good idea. How did it turn out? I believe that's poor execution. We don't need to get into the Obama argument. We're on the same side as far as his job as President.
This. I've been able to vote for President 4 times now (18, 22, 26, and 30). The guy I voted for has lost every time. I'm going to start voting for the guy I hate.
I love how Repubs say they "also hated" George Bush to look unbiased. Yeah, I reallllly believe that.
Am I not allowed to have an opinion of someone who had a very specific reputation at the Law School, who was my state senator and whose political viewpoints were well known in the Hyde Park community?
I'm a small government, fiscally conservative, social libertarian. Exactly where does President Bush fit within those guidelines? Compassionate conservativism is nothing more than an excuse to have big government and impose evangelical social views. I didn't vote for him in either 2000 or 2004.
That's just a dumb post. A lot of Repubs voted for Gore over Bush. I'm registered indy, by the way. I consider myself more Democratic than Repub, until it comes to lazy people wanting handouts.
I figured most of my posts on the OT thread would have said enough. I might just be an oddity. I like the way maxiep described his beliefs, above. I personally think the two-party (dominated) system is lame and outdated and I hate that people vote mostly party lines as opposed to voting based on beliefs and/or what's best for our fellow neighbors.
I agree with that. Maybe if the system wasn't this way it'd eliminate the psycho Christian fundamentalism that is taking over the right wing.
Agreed. I grew up in a (loose) Catholic household. To this day, I (loosely) follow my faith, though I'm not confined by some of the rigid-ness of it, and there are many things I disagree with and/or don't practice. I disagree with pretty much anything we have to strictly follow in most anything in life. I think we should question "why?" In everything. If we can do that, consider both sides, and determine our own beliefs and values, I think we'd all be better off.
