His value is as a decoy, attracting double coverage based upon his false reputation as a clutch shooter who is capable of winning games.

We could trade him for a large wooden duck which quacks when a fish bites it, and we'd win close games for a change.

He's straight money when he's banging down low.... I have been saying more and more "God damnit LA, lucky that went in" when he takes a jumper... and when he misses... it's usually just one four letter word...

Tonight he missed almost all of his wide-open unguarded midrange shots. His bad attitude makes him refuse to play his natural position, Center. He's about 10% as effective at PF as he would be after a year of learning how to play C.

His stats at forward come from being much taller than his man. He's not as adroit or athletic as many forwards, but playing short guys gives him many little mental vacations from intensity during the game, so he prefers it.

Why would he try to unsuccessfully pry both stars out of their current cities?

Apparently he aspires to be unsuccessful. So far, he's been very successful at it. Kudos to him.

Say you get a top 3 pick with Tristan Thompson and Anderson Varejao. With that top 3 pick you take Andrew Wiggins or Jabari Parker. You have to at least consider it. With our luck we'd probably take Joel Embiid and he would go down though.

I don't think the Cavs are bad enough to get a top three.

Yes, anything can happen, but this most likely won't.

I tried to unsuccessfully post a snappy comeback, but I was unsuccessful. I think. Wait. What?

An obvious bonus to trading him for a top pick, is that we'd have a good player on his rookie salary, and enough cap room to sign another free agent, such as Lance Stephenson.

    LOL

    Ok

The Blazers already have Lance Stephenson. His name is Nic Batum, though. Trade Batum to bring in Stephenson with FA money? Now that's intriguing, considering what Batum is worth to another team and what the Blazers could get in return.

What team wouldn't want Aldridge is the question.

Precisely. And we'll dodge the bullet of (over)paying LMA $18M per season.
I don't know anything about NCAA players, and wont begin paying attention to them until after the season is over. But if there's a potential star SG that we could pick up with a draft pick obtained through trading LMA then that makes it a no-brainer. There isn't much SG talent in the league, but PFs are a dime a dozen.
