Nick Saban voiced support of rule Alabama coach Nick Saban and Arkansas coach Bret Bielema voiced their concerns about the effects of up-tempo, no-huddle offenses on player safety to the NCAA committee that passed a proposal to slow down those attacks. Josh Harvey-Clemons dismissed Safety Josh Harvey-Clemons has been dismissed from Georgia for a violation of team rules, coach Mark Richt announced Tuesday. Harvey-Clemons, who would have been a junior this fall, played in 25 career games with 11 starts. He finished the 2013 season ranking third on the team with 66 total tackles. He also had one interception, broke up five passes, recovered three fumbles and forced two fumbles. A top recruit in 2012, Harvey-Clemons was already suspended for the first three games of the 2014 season as a continuation of his suspension for an undisclosed violation of team rules that forced him to miss Georgia's 24-19 loss to Nebraska in last season's TaxSlayer.com Gator Bowl. Dee Hart faces possession charge Former Alabama Crimson Tide running back Dee Hart was arrested by Tuscaloosa police Sunday for possession of marijuana and giving false information, according to reports. Hart, who was poised to enter the coming season as a junior, hadn't been with the program since the Crimson Tide lost to Oklahoma in the Sugar Bowl in January. "Dee Hart has not been a part of the football team since the bowl game and has not participated in any of the offseason program," the university said in a statement. "Hopefully he will learn from this mistake and continue to work toward completing his degree, which he is on track to do by the summer." Serderius Bryant arrested, suspended Oxford police chief Joey East says Mississippi linebackers Denzel Nkemdiche and Serderius Bryant were arrested in separate incidents over the past weekend. East says Nkemdiche was charged with disorderly conduct and disturbing the peace around midnight Saturday. Bryant was charged with public drunkenness and disturbing the peace early Sunday. Gary Pinkel gets raise to $3.1M Missouri has rewarded Gary Pinkel by making him the latest Southeastern Conference coach to join the $3 million club. Missouri players face pot charges - Four Missouri athletes were arrested Saturday night on suspicion of possession of 35 grams or less of marijuana during a traffic stop in Columbia. Guards Wes Clark and Shane Rector of the basketball team and defensive backs Aarion Penton and Shaun Rupert from the football team were pulled over at 11:32 p.m. after Columbia police noticed an expired rear license plate tag on Rupert's car, police spokeswoman Latisha Stroer said Monday. The officers approached the car and detected the smell of marijuana, prompting the discovery of a package of Swisher Sweets cigarillos containing a substance that tested positive for marijuana, Stroer said. Georgia players face theft charges Starting safety Tray Matthews was among four Georgia players who were arrested and charged with theft by deception Monday evening. According to the online booking log from the Clarke County Jail, Matthews, defensive lineman Jonathan Taylor, outside linebacker James DeLoach and receiver Uriah LeMay were all arrested, with each player facing multiple misdemeanor charges. University of Georgia chief of police Jimmy Williamson said Tuesday an investigation found that three of the players received double payments for stipend checks of $71.50 issued by the Georgia athletic department. LSU, UCLA announce series LSU and UCLA announced Monday that their football programs will play for the first time starting in 2021. The Tigers also announced the addition of Arizona State to its future schedule. The Tigers and Bruins will meet at the Rose Bowl on Sept. 4, 2021. UCLA will make the return trip to Tiger Stadium on Aug. 31, 2024.
