I have only seen Marcus Williams play twice in preseason, and both times he impressed me. And I am not a huge stat guy, but looking at Nets box scores Williams is lighting up the scoring/assist categories as well as hitting 3's like crazy. He averaged 16.0 ppg and 7.0 apg in preseason. Now, he really needs to improve defensively and he needs to tone out his body a little bit more, but offensively (shooting and making plays) he looks great right now. You guys got one of the steals of the draft. Marcus Williams at 22nd was great value in this draft, I think I had him going 13th to Philly.
I saw him vs. the Raps. He was just killing Jose driving to the basket. As you all should know, he also has very good court vision, he's a great passer, and he can shoot the ball too. I wouldnt be surprised if he turns out to be the #1 pg in the 06 class (if you dont count Randy Foye. That kid is going somewhere).
I can see him averaging 15-17 ppg and 8-10 apg if he replaced JKidd later on.
he's an incredible pure point guard passer. offensively, he's definitely the best pg in his rookie class. he just needs to work on cutting down turnovers and playing some defense. he also takes some ill-advised shots. but god damn, is he a good passer!
He's also a very good set shooter. You pass him the ball when he's wide open and SWISH! It's as though everything falls in for him.
Marcus is a very talented player he is learning alot from playing behind the best point guard in the game. and he will continue to get better but sometimes he falls in love with his jump shot and he call start missing. but he will always fill up one part of the stat sheet. hopefully assits!
