That is because this thread and really 90% of the threads on the forum get derailed by ass hat posts. The majority of this forum is made up of extreme posters, some seem to be ultra negative and love to show up after losses to rub it in. Others are extreme homers so blinded by their loyalty to the team that any negative comment is automatically stupid and worthy of ridicule and then there are a few moderate posters who come on and offer an opinion then leave. Problem is by page 2 or 3 of the thread there is so many off topic and stupid posts to weed through like the one above that all legitimate basketball conversation stops and people began to either fight or stray farther and farther from the initial topic.
Honestly I just want to talk basketball without getting into a pissing competition. I am to blame as much as anyone for degrading my own threads with stupidity. I just need to do a better John Cena impression and rise above the hate.
Do you have lighting effects, a smoke machine and dramatic music playing loudly when you type this stuff up? Okay I get it, my comment had nothing to do with the OP. The problem I see cmeese is that you present every "Opinion" as "Fact" and your opinions are counter culture to the vast majority of any fan of any team. It's the same basic "Bald Face Truth" tactic Clownzano uses.
He's got a point because he's advocating that we should start flopping more instead of getting rid of flopping? Like I said, this whole thread is a flop....
This thread is not a joke but seeing the different persoanlities clash is. On one side, you have the critics; some of them are what I call paint-brush critics and most are pretty accurate. On the other hand we have what I call the "Defend the Alamo at all costs" people. They act "As-If" criticizing the Blazers in a healthy way is the worst thing you can do in the world. I am not talking about the people who correct the criticizing people on a certain point that's incorrect, I am talking about the people who take offense to any criticism of the blazers and don't focus on the one stat that matters to most of the critics and that is the 0-14 playoff record in getting to or out of the first round of the playoffs. That to me is the biggest stat of all. To me, the problem is at the top. It takes far to long to "Decide" to rebuild the team, then it takes to long to "Actually" rebuild the team, Usually the players are "To young" to contribute "Right now", when the Blazers do "Teach" them the game of basketball they usually become "To cerebral" on the court, then they "Over-value" the players they have and hold on to them "To long" and then the process starts back over again in a cyclical manner.
The problem I have with stats over a long period of time is that no one on this team is here from when we started the 0-14 slide. It's a TRUE stat, but it's not one that's indicative of the current roster of blazers. Now, if you shorten it and say 0-whatever from these current roster of blazers, I'm okay with it. But it's a "shock stat" that the media tries to use to sway people in rooting interests. Again, it's a TRUE stat, but it's not a whole-heartedly true stat in terms of these current blazers. And that's really all I care about, not the past ones that these current team of blazers were never a part of, ya know?
Yes and no sure 0 for 14 is not indicative of this particular Blazer team, but as a Blazer fan I remember each of those 14 years and subsequent feeling of disappointment that followed. I also remember back when this franchise had the record for consecutive seasons making the playoffs and was a legit threat to win it all even if it never came to fruition.
Why don't you be real? Flopping isn't going away. Has it ever? No. Refs are fooled by it. It works. And it worked against us. Time to adapt. Even though we all hate it.
Not me I love flopping, it hurts yes when it happens against us but I still love the theatrics of it all and the willingness to take the risk associated with falling on the ground leaving your man unguarded
Ever since soccer became a thing the flop is taking over sports. The solution is simple. Seal our borders to the south, don't let the infection continue to spread.
The whole team should choose the next game we play against Scott foster to just ridiculously flop on every play. This sort of passive aggressiveness is not only entertaining but gets a point across. Everyone pays a fine and silver's death star explodes
You forgot another group of people: Those that disregard posts like this because they do one or more of several things: 1) data mine stat sources to find convenient correlations 2) cherry pick certain stats and use them out of context 3) don't even understand the stat they are using 4) use the faulting stats to extrapolate or project into the future. Then they claim this false use of data as a "fact", when in reality, it's garbage.
