How amazing is that?</div>That is amazing, isn't it? John Havlicek summed it up perfectly:"Red Auerbach is the godfather of the Celtics. From all the big names, all the players... there was only one guy there for all the championship years, and that was Red. He is the godfather."
And I heard he also pwned my beloved Jerry Colangelo in some trade didn't he? :no1: With some D.J. guy...help me out here...?
WOW, I had a dream about this a few nights ago. That's freaky. He was one of the most influential figures in NBA history. He drafted the first black player, Hired the first black head coach, and put together the first all black starting 5. He made the bed for African Americans in the NBA. I remember reading that one time the Celtics were staying at a hotel which turned out to be an all-white hotel. Instead of moving Russell to a different hotel which would be easier moving 1 player then an entire team. He didn't, He packed up the entire team and transfered to a new hotel. He was a winner, He didn't care what the media thought about him or his team. He put the best players on the floor black or white. 16 NBA titles are just a small contribution he gave to the NBA.

He has been here for all of them. Sure he coached 9, but he still gets those other 7 rings as a GM/President. He worked wonders for not only the Boston Celtics, but the entire NBA.
This deserved to be bumped. In honor of Red:Joe Barry Carroll...for Parish and the pick that landed McHaleAmazing trade.
Red was the greatest any of us have or will ever have the chance to see. It was his commitment to total domination and relentless toughness that really seperated him and his teams from everyone else. He was one of a kind and will be missed. RIP The Best of the Best.
Nobody ever talked more sh*t on the Laker franchise and it's players than Red Aurbach. He will be missed
