I know we got a whupping last game but didn't think the Kings would be able to hang with the Bulls tonight but end of 3 and its still neck and neck.

Slimmest of margins as they used to say...

It was a 3pt game until they had to foul to stop the clock.

The West is so good that the "bad" teams would be 4th seed in the East.

The Kings would be what... in the E? That is why I get freaked they beat the crap out of the Bulls then played them close tonight.

It's hard to say for sure because they only play eastern teams twice a season. Most of their games are against much tougher teams than we face. They also made a mid season trade for Rudy Gay.

Sacramento is 11-16 (.407) against the EC which would be good enough for #9 in the conference and within shouting distance of a playoff spot. The Jazz and Lakers, who are behind the Kings in the WC standings are also 11-16 against the EC.

Looking at it the other way, the Pacers, Heat, Raptors and Nets are over .500 against WC teams.

Just my opinion, but if it was a completely balanced schedule, I think about 11 of the 16 playoff teams would come from the WC.

Gay trade notwithstanding the Kings have gone 12 and 23 since the new year.

If you are getting clobbered by the Spurs, Mavs, Rockets, Thunder, clippers, etc., you might get a little discouraged.

If you're feasting on the Sixers, Celtics, Bucks, and Magic, you might care more about winning.

Not if you're a team with strong leadership and good character.

The Kings play in a stadium filled with empty seats. The ownership has talked about moving the team or selling it for the past several years.

They once were a decent franchise, with CWebb, Bibby, and Brad Miller.

The Kings are 23-43 at 13th seed in the West. The 8th seed is 12 games over .500. At some point, there is no point. The Kings hit it a while ago.

I think they still have their draft pick. It'll be interesting to see their core with the addition of one of the top 5 in this loaded draft.

Joakim Noah, Taj Gibson power Bulls to win over Kings

Chicago Bulls fans chanted "MVP" when Joakim Noah made big plays.

    Noah doesn't like the attention.

"That's not what's important to me," Noah said. "It's just all about this team right now. We've been through so much. It's not about individual accolades."

This actually isn't true anymore. The Maloofs sold the Kings last year and the new ownership is committed to keeping the team where it is. I think league owners want to put an expansion team in Seattle, so keeping the Kings in Sacramento was basically a condition of the sale. They've had a huge uptick in attendance this season. I think a lot of people were staying away because they didn't want to give that awful ownership group any of their cash.

As to the product on the court, I checked it maybe a month ago and the Kings were playing .500 ball when both Rudy Gay and Boogie Counsins were in the lineup. The Kings basically didn't win anything out of the gate, before they picked up Gay, and then there was a relatively long stretch where both Boogie and Gay were injured. And that was basically the end of their season.

I like the team. Your guy Maclemore is starting to put things together. If I were a good coach looking for a plum landing spot, Sacramento might be it. Good ownership group. Cousins might be the best center in the league sans Howard. Isiah Thomas can play. Maclemore can play. Rudy Gay is a good fit for that team. They need a new coach and some more time to gel and eliminate all the issues that comes along with having a young roster. I'd also like to see them pick up a solid power forward. Reggie Evans, Jason Thompson, Derrick Williams . . . none of those guys are really starting caliber players.

Any way. I don't take much from the Bulls struggling against them. They're a decent, talented lineup when people are healthy.

(That photo is during Q1 of a game in January)

The Kings average attendance is ~16,165. Good for 22nd best in the league. The Warriors average 19,500.
