I think Claver gets overlooked and is under played by Stotts. Yeah he's not a scorer at all but he does all the little things and plays good D, and it seems to me when he's in there the team plays well. That lineup he was in with in the 2nd qtr played great last night, and then we did not see it or Vic at all in the second half.

I know plus/minus is not the greatest stat, but I got to thinking about how I said I think the team plays well when he's in there, Vic's got a plus 8 in per 36 plus/minus. I know it's in limited minutes but the team IMO does seem to play well when he's in there - he's a glue kinda guy IMO and he did a nice defensive job on Lee when he guarded him as well.

I don't think there's a smarter player on the team. I like what he does out there.

Absolutely, last night the team clicked with him in the game. I was flabbergasted that he didn't see a minute in the 2nd half.

    I agree.

And Terry is trying to implement a rotation with out LA in the lineup. I think he needs to continue to move forward with that rotation with him in the lineup. That means with LA, still giving Barton, Claver and guys like them more playing time.

Vic had a +10 against the Warriors and I thought he really was the glue guy when Will or TRob were on the court with him. He took the chaos out of their game and man is he a smart defender. Great hands, good handle. It shows he's in his second year playing Stotts game. Same as Freeland and Barton.

Totally. My brother and I were expecting to see him play in the 2nd half.

I didn't get the reason for keeping him out either, he impacted the game. Stotts is in love with the 3pt shooters in the 2nd half.

Well it's nice that black people want to see Claver play, too.

I like Claver, but dude seriously needs to start hitting some shots. He has to be a threat on offense or he can't be out there.

disagree, if he's in with other shooters he does enough in all other aspects of the game to earn his time IMO

Have you seen Stotts' offense? He doesn't play people that can't shoot.

that's my beef, not every guy has to be a "shooter" for an offense to be effective, there's more to the game than that and Stotts IMO needs to be more flexible about that

Claver has good fundamentals and zero athleticism. His foot speed is painfully slow. That said, he plays good positional defense.

Does he deserve more minutes? Probably not as we're trying to play a form of small ball and keeping the ball moving. That said, I am not opposed to seeing him get token minutes.

I guess it really doesn't matter if he does or not.

When we signed Claver I watched all the footage I could find on him playing in Spain and he can shoot. I think like most players, he needs to get some burn to get into an offensive flow. He reminds me of a young Doug Christie defensively and I disagree that he's slow and not athletic. The 3 pt shot is not his strong suit but he can finish at the rim in traffic. We've seen all of our starters have cold shooting 1st halves at times and Vic hasn't had the minutes to find his stroke.

I've been saying this all fucking season! Isn't it painfully obvious to everyone now that he's much better than Leonard off the bench? I'd play him over Freeland as well. Yet coach Stotts keeps playing Leonard.

Leonard is one of the worst players I've ever seen in my life! Why is Stotts being such a retard about this?

Bullshit, that's not true at all. He can actually guard the perimeter unlike Freeland and Leonard. He has good athletic ability for a guy his size.

I have been pushing for Claver to play all season, but I don't think he deserved to play over Joel. They are two entirely different types of players. Joel gave us some needed toughness underneath, while Claver's length helps on the perimeter. He is a good utility player to have on the bench since he can guard different positions.

Both are more seasoned than Leonard.... for sure.

Vic had a great line tonight. Hit a 3, finished at the rim, impacted the game defensively, set amazing screens, rebounded, all that dirty work without looking to score. He made his minutes count in this game bigtime. He's not Joel at all, He is one smart player.
