The question isn't really whether Lu was better here than Lance would be moving forward. Resigning Deng is unlikely esp since he turned down 3/30M and paying him more than that would limit options at other positions unless there is serious Dolenphrenia schizoid spending. There are other teams with more $ to play with to drp big bucks on Deng and still add parts. Better to ask whether Lance would improve the team and be a part of a championship upgrade. I don't personally think Deng at 11 or 12 M per year maximizes the team's chances as great as he was as a solid star player when he was here.
Pretty clever trick Thibs is playing on these guys. When we play them in the playoffs, they're going to think it's going to be easy.
