Who is the most under appreciated player? This can be modern day basketball or old school. My list:Sidney Moncrief.Artis Gilmore.Adrian Dantley.Sam Cassell.
As of right now? Kobe Bryant. There are way too many Kobe haters for them to even realize how great of a player they are watching. People talk about Kobe being arrogant, too cocky, a ballhog, his rape charges, etc. But what they don't talk about is how unbelievable of a basketball player he is, on BOTH ends of the floor.People are concentrating more on "Kobe hate" then Kobe Bryant the player. Like him or not, like this or not, Kobe Bryant IS the closest thing we have ever seen to Michael Jordan. And no, don't blow that statement up and make it sound like I said he's as good as Jordan, because that's not what I said.

Well recently I know for us it was probably Adrian Griffin. I think we'll miss him sooner or later. All time I'd say Dennis Rodman or Sam Cassell. Bruce Bowen has also been pretty clutch for S.A.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Let's all not forget Yinka Dare now, come on!</div>Yinka Dare- 4 total assists in 4 seasons, 179 fouls. He's pretty much the greatest center of all time.

Noooooo. What makes you say that?Everybody knows Yinka Dare is one of the greatest centers in NBA history.
Yinka Dare definitely...people dont give him credit for those assists he made..they were key in the success of his teams...but in all honesty..Kobe..he is amazing but people hate way too much because of the rape case..he was like the face of the NBA before that happenedand he was on pace to destroy the record for career points

<span style="font-family:Book Antiqua">I'll just make a list with a couple of players:Sam Cassell- just obvious reasons.Kobe Bryant- too many "Kobe haters".Steve Nash- two MVP awards and people still don't appreciate him much.Ray Allen- people think all this man does is shoot... May be true, though.Jason Kidd- how is he not top 5 PG of all-time material?Richard Jefferson- how is he not an All-Star player yet?Vince Carter- how is he still expected to flop season after season?Gerald Green- didn't receive much play-time last season as a rookie, even though he proved he was good with the amount of time he was given.Alonzo Mourning/Gary Payton- playing off the bench and still making huge plays, yet people don't give them credit for securing the NBA championship last season.Carmelo Anthony- still not an All-Star, eh?</span>
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Lakaboy42 @ Oct 30 2006, 09:52 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>You said yourself that he's not a very good defender.</div>he gets people to think he's a good defender - that has my respect, plus he was the best role player in the nba during the spurs title runs

It will be a VERY long time till there is another "franchise" for this Lakers team until Kobe literally dies of cancer or something.

Magic2. Oscar3. Isiah Thomas4. John Stockton (Still debatable for number 3)5. Gary PaytonThen we have Walt Frazier, Bob Cousy, and Kidd. Nash isn't up there, he is top ten though.
Although Kobe is under appreciated by haters, it's a different story when it comes to Kobe fans. I'm not one of them but they really overrate Kobe and I think when you put fans into the recipe it all balances out.
Paul Pierce- Other than Celtics fans no one seems to really appreciate what Pierce does for the franchise. He is loyal to the team, consistently healthey, very versatile, etc.Ron Artest- People need to start appreciating this guys play more. Yes he was a headache for the Pacers but the guy is arguably the best defender in the league and is also a 20 ppg threat.Kobe Bryant- People need to stop looking for things wrong with Kobe and need to start appreciating his game. Kobee is the best player in the world right now and one of the greatest players of all time. He's the best scorer we have seen since MJ and is also a very good perimeter defender. The guy proved last year he is unguardable and unstoppable and made history last season.
