WoWS is the next up for us. American Hustle was good, but I felt the plot was thin in a lot of places.

WoWS was OK I guess but the story seemed a bit over the top. Plus, like I said, I'm not a big LD fan.

Seriously, not nominated for anything but "OUT OF THE FURNACE" with Christain Bale & Woody Harrelson is excellent & so is "HOMEFRONT" with Jason Statam.

They both look good from the trailers I have seen for both... I love Jason Statham's work, always have since Snatch, and Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, since he broke in, and was an immediate sensation....if you can see those two movies Rick, I know you would enjoy them. They are both great stories, with strange good twists to each one....a must see for any Statham fan, altho' neither movies highlight him as the new kickass sensation, his latter movies do. Like the incredible Transporter Series, a helluva trilogy of good action, and stunt car driving to the hilt.......to THE HILTS.......

Nice touch at the end. I got that nick name growing up in the orphanage. I kept running away & they would catch me at put me in detention. A 10x10 room where I'd have to spend for a few days. But never without my spalding ball that one of my friends would pass to me through the window. Anyway I got the name HILTS based on the Steve McQueen Character in the movie "The great Escape"

You know Rick, I have long wondered where you got the moniker you oft use as a nickname....Kool man, not cool about the Orphanage, but the tie in to that classic great McQueen movie. One of my favorites, along with Cool Hand Luke...

Have you seen 'The Transporter" 3 trilogy movies, I'm betting you have, to the hilts, Statham takes action to a new level. Statham started out as a model, yet had time to obtain his 7th degree black belt, so his stunts come pretty damn natural. I can't say the same for old action stares, like Stallone, Willis, Schwarznegger, and about every one else.

Segal, Van Damme, and Norris both had the highest degree of belts they could get, Norris a World Champion tutored by the great Bruce Lee. Altho' I don't care for Norris movie, or his insane Walker Texas Ranger, my little brother watched that show so much, I can't watch or hear a episode without puking. I would bear it when he was a kid, with no problem tho'. You know how it is, one tends to have no qualms with the silly shows our kids watch, as long as they are not beyond the norm.

Yet, with past martial arts experiences, I have never seen a better actor with a martial arts background, who looks so normal, but CAN ACT.........therein lies the difference between Statham and the pack of aging actors he leaves in his dust..

Yep, Statham takes action beyond TO THE HILTS..

All this time I thought you retired as a shithouse janitor scrubbing toilets.

Oh I forgot you also built, designed the new toilet, that reduces time for people to crap, by the suction jet within the toilet bowl, to suck the crap out of anyone's bowels. thus reducing down time. A normal crap being 2-5 minutes, with constipated folks reduced from 30 minutes, down to five minutes. Didn't you get a award for inventing that process improvement, improving production lee time??? LOL, brother, always J/K.

Growing up Steve McQueen was among my favorite actors. And I was surprised he wasn't nominated for anything for his performance in Papillon. For that matter Dustin Hoffman also. Great movie.

Its funny when I think about some of the well known actors early rolls in horror movies. McQueen in "The blob". Charles Bronson in "House of wax" & Clint Eastwood in "Revenge of the creature".

As far as martial arts, I'm a big fan of Jason Statham but I also enjoyed the cult favorite Billy Jack with Tom Laughlin who just passed away a few months ago.

My favorite Statham movie has to be Revolver. Has some very interesting quotes, my favorite being...

here is something about yourself that you don't know. Something that you will deny even exists until it's too late to do anything about it. It's the only reason you get up in the morning, the only reason you suffer the shitty boss, the blood, the sweat and the tears. This is because you want people to know how good, attractive, generous, funny, wild and clever you really are. "Fear or revere me, but please think I'm special." We share an addiction. We're approval junkies. We're all in it for the slap on the back and the gold watch. The "hip, hip, hoo-fucking-rah." Look at the clever boy with the badge, polishing his trophy. Shine on, you crazy diamond. Cos we're just monkeys wrapped in suits, begging for the approval of others.

Just saw Captain Phillips, excellent movie but DAMN! did they take liberties with this one. I read somewhere of guys that were actually there that said 80% of the movie is bullshit. But just for entertainment purposes, Very good flick.

The thing people need to know is that If the wind blew my door shut I could write an entire movie about paranormal activities And be able to say that its based in part on a true story because the WIND really did blow my door shut. Its really amazing what they can get away with & still say that its BASED on a true story.

Finally watched Wolf of Wall Street....absolutely fantastic. DiCaprio and Scorsese hit another home run. The Lemon Ludes scene was hysterical....the cerebral palsy phase was one of the funniest things I've seen since the chicken scene from the Hangover, or the tarantula scene from Home Alone. There are other scenes that make you laugh so hard it hurts, but few that make you Start laughing 30 seconds before the scene unfolds while rewatching the movie.
