why trade stepan for a #2 center when he is one. Ive been wondering what San Jose would be willing to move for Nash, Nash and thorton are buds.
Because most #2 Centers can actually win faceoffs and set up players on their lines. Stepan does neither. He makes no one on his line better, does not create plays, does not score goals, and can't win faceoffs. He's winning 45% of his faceoffs this year, and I'd be willing to be that's a lot lower in the past month.
Problem with PP is that they're still too passive. Not being aggressive enough. No one timers. Instead they're skating in with the puck, trying to find the perfect pass instead of throwing the puck at the net and getting a rebound and getting a dirty goal.
I'd like to see Diaz with Staal, that way we can drop Stralman to 3rd pair for rest if year and then let him go to FA.
been tough on stepan, he's put up some great #'s, leadin team in assists, so why do i feel he's been less of an asset?
havent been watching the games as much this season due to new job, but the stepan hate is getting little out of hand, correct me if im wrong but doesn't he have stellar numbers since the Olympic break? Since the Olympic break #NYR @DerekStepan21 has 19 points (5-14) in 17 games.
ok, and what about his points before the break? those count as well. Stepan will not even get 20gls while playing 18+ mins a game on the first line with the best player on the team. No one is hating on the guy and wanting him gone at all costs, but he is clearly overrated. This year he'll end up in the mid/high 50 pts range again and there's nothing wrong with that as there's a lot of value there, but he's not a top player. He already makes $3m/yr so if in his next contract he wants $5M+, you really have to consider what to do with him. He's a decent 2nd liner, that's all.
Had turned off by the time the 5th goal was scored, but 3 of the 4 goals scored up to that point were awful goals by Scrivens. What a hack.
