Curious who posters prefer as the 6th, left side, Dman. Tough for Moore to lose his job because of an injury, but Diaz has fit in nicely. I'm all for continuing to roll with Diaz even if / when Moore is ready.

John Moore had been playing some of his best hockey of the season in the stretch before he got hurt. Unfortunate, but he doesnt bring the offensive dimension that Diaz does. We need a guy at the point who will let it rip. Diaz fills a need.

What I like about Diaz is the kid shoots. He has no shame about that. He looks to shoot almost every time he gets the puck, and I like that.

The playoffs is about hitting and dirty goals. Small defenseman like Diaz don't cut it.

Diaz' shooting will allow for more dirty goals near the crease.

Diaz knows what he's doing with the puck and makes pinpoint outlet passes, plus he gets the middle of the ice in the offensive end to distribute/shoot. Great pickup for nothing basically. They should re-sign him asap.

Torey Krug is significantly smaller than Diaz and he absolutely killed us in the playoffs by just throwing pucks at the net.

Moore is still maturing, he seemed a little timid this year, but I think he'll be fine. Diaz has experience and is geared for offense which they are missing overall on D. This is one of the better in season moves GS has made.

Moore was pretty bad the first half of the season. He definitely improved when MDZ was finally shipped out and he could go back to his natural left side. Diaz might not be the better overall player, but he adds a dimension this team lacks. He's already won PP time after 2 or 3 games. I stick with Diaz.

weren't we all bitching and moaning that Torts didn't have Moore on the pp at the end of the year and in the playoffs?

I'm not sure what your argument is here. Yes he was having a good end of the season last year and Torts was not using him on the PP consistently. It was on-off, on-off, and constant juggling, just like the rest of the lines with Torts. But Moore did not improve much this year, in fact I'd say he regressed for a lot of the year. Diaz has shown promise and a knack for shooting on the PP. Like I said, Moore might be the more complete player and has improved since going back to the left, but Diaz adds some shooting ability from the point that we havent had here in awhile. That's why I go with him.

    J. Moore needs to be more physical, not only does Diaz shoot a lot but he's accurate. I'd go with Diaz at this time and look to resign both let the greedy Swede Stralman walk.

I like Moore a lot, and truly believe he is part of the future here as a solid 3rd pair dman, but right now Diaz has been better. He should be in until he falters if he ever does.

As for you Al, man you are crazy with Torts. No matter what you defend that guy. Now you will say you are not defending him, but almost every post you make has some undertone of Torts defense, it is crazy IMO.

The guys time was up here. We are better for it as we aim to get home ice in round 1. His team now is going to miss the playoffs. He was suspended for many games for his over the top/unprofessional reaction to the Flames incident. And there is a very reasonable chance he could be one and done with the Canucks. There is a reason for that Al.

Let it go already Al Torts...:).

Dude you read into things way to much. Just like the coaching change we immediately want to throw people away. I mean really was a thread about BENCHING ST LOUIS for Christ sakes.
Have you seen me start threads about the system and the point totals of callahan since he left the rangers? Everyone wanted a"better offensive minded coach" our scoring is down our goals against is up. Already talks about AV being an idiot by having Carrillo play on the first line ( a game dominated by the rangers). So quick to judge.
