"Summertime Blues" (Blue Cheer) - from their Vincibus Eruptum albumn. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nU5uDozoSSM
actually the core of Buffalo Springfield, was a a huge chunk of great Neil Young golden hits. When the band broke up, we wound up with Neil Young and Crazy Horse and Crosby Stills Nash, then Young. We had the Byrds David Crosby leave the Byrds for CSN then Y. Richie Furay of Buf. Spring. went on to form the band, Poco. The remaining Byrds, developed into The Flying Burrito Bros, and Gram Parson...onward to Crosby and Nash, who quit the Hollies to join BufS...played extensive harmonies on Jackson Browne's first albums, and then right there the L.A. sound blossomed. Browne wrote 3/4ths of "Take it Easy' which the Eagles made a hit. Glen Frey of the Eagles was Jackson's guest and confidante in Jacksons apartment, when Frey moved to town, and who had either played with Gram Parsons, or like Furay, got to know GP, in Boston during GPs early folk trio days. So everyone in L.A. music was tied into another small family group.
So you'd think a band with that kind of talent would have had more then the one hit. Good stuff Berra.
Pauly you fuck....you stole my thunder, you low life mo-fo, that's the same story I told you about the history of Sunset Blvd. You live in the sticks, the tornado alley has sucked your brain dry......... "Take it easy, don't let the sound of your own wheels drive you crazy"...better yet, those wheels did drive you crazy SOB...You plagiarist mother of a dog........ Go watch your Royals ballgame, and don't come crying to me when they lose....I cannot believe the majority of MLB analysts picked KC over Detroit, I utterly don't buy it, as those very analysts based their predictions on hitting alone, and never ONCE mentioned their lack of quality veteran ace pitchers, rookies can be great, however the best young guns ARE IN ST. LOUIS you moron....all kidding aside, may the next tornado lose you in OZ......tell my sis, she married a moron.......hehehaha...Do I really need to say J/K?
Another little known group that really only had one major hit ( For your love ) that sprouted several stars & later formed one of the greatest rock bands EVER, were The Yardbirds. whose early members were Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck & Jimmy page. The latter went on to change the name of the group & started calling themselves Led Zeppilen. & later added members Robert Plant & John Paul Jones.
But Clapton, Beck and Page never performed together as the Yardbirds. Slow hand left because 'For Your Love' was too pop of a direction and he was committed to playing the blues.
Never said they did young fella. I said the band sprouted several stars. Pay attention will you. If I knew how to use icons, a smiley face would have been applied.
...yup, and IMO, he should be. ...this is the song from the album that got me hooked. (1972) ...ass-kickin' song. Beck doesn't really get cookin' till about the 2:00 mark. It's a long song that teases you twice into thinking it's over. ...a lot of people point to Eddie Van Halen as being some kind of God but Jeff Beck was doing Van Halen like stuff before anyone ever heard of Eddie. And I thank you for the tours, and background history you feed me in L.A. Sunset, and Hollywood Blvd's. I was listening to Sonny and Cher, before I met you, NOT! However you did influence my musical L.A. sound tastes. However you can have those Dodgers and Angels, I'm rolling with the Yanks, Royals, and Cards.... BTW-Lil' Brother, I'll be in St. Louis for the Home Opener (25th) versus the Pirates, and the Kaufman-KC for Home Opener versus The Blue Jays (29th). Get your butt out here, and I will let you ride in the trunk to drive to the show(s)... Long ride, bring your oxygen bottles, and bed pans.
Numerous Rock and Roll HOF guitarist have said: No one can utilize their right hand on a Strat like Jeff Beck...His Live at Ronnie Scott's was a MASTERPIECE, as is all his work. That body of work, garnered him a Grammy for Best Instrumental, in his old age. I read Beck lives in a renovated Castle in the country side of England, and has a vast collection of American Muscle Cars, namely Cobra Mustangs, and Vette's....why would he opt for American Muscle Cars, when he could own a Buggatti Veyron, a Pagani Zonda R, a McLaren, Maserati, even a Ferrair FXX, or the more inferior Lambo's and Astin Martins-(no offense Lambo or Astin fans). Beck has little to no match...... As much how can anyone not appreciate SRV........Texas Flood baby. There is a reason why only SRV's bronze statue graces the Capital in Austin, TX. all by his lonesome self.
I saw Young in 79 at the Forum, Rust Never Sleep Tour.... A incredible concert....at the time the Malibu and western Mulholland Hills, where Neil Lived, was evacuated and many a mansion were burning. Neil's first words, were: "I don't even know if I have a house to go home to, as you know the fire is out of control, so I'm going to play for you as I may not have a home to go back to". He played 4 hours with 2 intermissions, as if he made the Forum his new home, and we were his guests. Young opened with a Hendrix like version of his own Star Spangled Banner, and if you did not know better, you would of though Hendrix was alive and well at the Forum. Neil did his acoustic tour first, then cranked the amps up even more-so, and blew our ears out. No shit, we had to sit in the car for 2 hours, before any of us could drive, due to vertigo to the hilts.... Robert Hilburn, then the L.A. aficionado of concert and record reviews for the L.A. Times, said "concert goers will be standing in lines for a week at the ear doctor". Still it was one of the best concerts, out of approximately 100 I had ever seen, before I ever turned 27, (when I settled down and got married). Best thing I ever did, going on 33 years now with my first and only wife.
...and oh, on top of Stevie Ray Vaughn and others covering Beck's classic "Goin Down", Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Eric Johnson do a good job of it too;
All Great Giants in the Business you mentioned. I know I know, but can't help myself, lets add: Albert (not Alvin) Lee, Clapton's back up for 3 years of world tours. Albert first came to fame, with Emmylou Harris Hot Band, replacing another Legend Strat GIANT-James Burton, both could catch a strat on fire, with flaming fingers flailing.....Burton and Albert Lee..... How about David Gilmour, always have a special place in my heart for "which one is Pink"...."have a cigar" But then were talking BLUES only?????? If so, gotta add B.B. King, Hendrix on top of the list of course.... I will add others later, PLEASE DO THE SAME IF YOU WILL...if not that's ok too.
...David Gilmour is another fav of mine and as far as I'm concerned he WAS Pink Floyd. The Floyd was one one the very few bands that I never got to see live but I did see Gilmour in concert awhile back. Floyd's great keyboardist Rick Wright was still alive and Mason the drummer was also touring with them then...and my favorite sax player Candy Dulfer does the solo at the end of this clip;
...more from Candy...and she ain't bad to look at either !
