Would the more correct summary be "Beverley may be available to play this season." There is no guarantee he can actually get back. The new information is that he won't have surgery, which opens the door for possibly playing this season. It doesn't mean he actually will.

Good point and I'm glad you brought it up! How many fans come to the game to see defense beat offense? Now as yourself how many superstars in the NBA play defense? Offense is more exciting and David Stern\Adam Silver are not dumb to see this.

He will just injure people if he gets beat.

I'm actually happy to hear this news. If we face the Rockets (which is still a big IF), I want them at full strength. No excuses. Beverley is a pesky defender who gets up in the grill of everyone he plays against, not just Lillard. I think it'd be good for Dame to go against a guy who's always looking to play in-your-face defense for 4+ straight games.

When you're given a challenge, do you dread and whine about it? Or do you step up to the plate, prepare for it, and take the challenge head on?

I'll happily take a weakened opponent and move on to the next round without giving two shits if they were at full strength or not.

Yup. It's way more important to get four quick wins and move on to the next round, rather than battle it out with a full strength opponent.

Totally agree. I hope we face 4 weakened opponents in the playoffs on the way to a title. Are you gonna sit at the parade and feel cheapened by it? I won't.

Don't count on it. According to an article by ESPNs' Marc Stein:

"But even after Andrews confirmed Monday that Beverley would not need surgery, it's believed that the backcourt defensive specialist will be out up to two more weeks to fully recover."

So, he should be 100% at least a week before the playoffs start.

This is true, unless the player is named Avery Bradley, Chris Paul, or Patrick Beverley.

It also seems to be inconsistent depending on the size/position of the player. Cp3 gets touched 20 feet from the basket and their is a good chance the whistle blows. Whereis the guys down low are able to extend the arm into the opponents back and......no whistle. I like Zebo, but I could not believe how much they let him push/punch LA in the back with his forearm last night. No wonder LA prefers to take so many jump shots.

Look how you want to make a smartass comment for nothing. I wasn't even talking about FTs per FG. I was talking about believing that the game is way more brutal now. I was asking if you actually believed that. That obviously is not true. Even in the 90's the game was still rougher. They didn't start changing the handcheck rule until 94. What does defense rating have anything to do with how rough the game is? That stat can't be applied to determine the roughness of the game.

Looks like Barton has to do a cheap shot on harden and take him out in the first round

To each his own I guess. I'd always much rather earn it no questions asked, I can guarantee you not one Blazer would say "nah, I hope every team we play has injuries to key players so that it's easier for us to win a title."
