Realistic expectations? This is sports - I don't like to mix reality with my fandom. Sports are my outlet for all the crappy realism I confront during the day. When I get to the Moda Center, I have dreams of greatness! That said, I realistically expect the Blazers to crush those bastards tonight in Los Angeles - nothing will make up for losing to them at home, but it's at least something.
I had us at 46-48 wins and #7 or 8 in the west. These guys have berms a blast to watch this season! By the way, I think we CRUSH the Lakers tonight!
I think I had us anywhere from 9th (worst-case) to 4th (best-case). I think we saw both of those teams this season. If we didn't have our blazing-hot start we'd be looking at the 9th seed (maybe worse). Throughout the season the team has exceeded my expectations (Game 1 - Game 20), met my expectations (Game 21 - Game 59), and played below my expectations (Game 60- Game 72). Let's hope that Game 73+ get back to them exceeding my expectations!
This was exactly my low ball prediction before pre season, after preseason and seeing TRob play I bumped it to 52 wins and 6 seed, second round. Before preseason, I did what I always do and predicted 82 and a championship. That's my 6th man swag. I now think we'll get 53 wins and have a shot at the WCF. I agree with HCP here, it's been one of the most inspiring seasons in the last 3 years and like some, I've been a die hard fan since the beginning. There is always a lot of buzz kill on these sites and it's good to see some optimism balance the boards out. Good thread HCP!
Of course my expectations will be raised after what we have done THIS year, but I'm just enjoying the ride FAMS!
My expectations wont be raised for this year but for next year they will be. Neil has a lot of work to do this summer and I really think the Blazers need that third star.
I had them at something like 28-33 wins. I couldn't have been more wrong. And may I add that I haven't eaten much other than crow since November...and it's been the most delicious crow ever. My "realistic" expectations now? I think 2nd round or even WCF if we continue to play well. And this offseason we'll see a consolidation trade, Mo re-signing and a terrific vet signing for the MLE. Next year--if we stay healthy--we'll be fucking monstrous.
He actually doesn't have a lot of work to do at all. Just a 1 or 2 pieces and we are going to be just fine.
ECF, with a good chance of beating the Heat. That conference is so fucking weak their expectations can't be any less.
