<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Washington Wizards President of Basketball Operations Ernie Grunfeld announced today that forward Darius Songaila will undergo surgery to repair a herniated disc, and will be out for 10-12 weeks.

Songaila originally sustained the injury while playing in the World Championship Games for the Lithuanian National Team this past summer.

?I am very disappointed that I will not be out there with my new teammates," said Songaila. "I plan to work hard and look forward to getting back on the court. Unfortunately, surgery is my best option at this time.?</div>
Songaila was a good signing by the Wizards this year, and it sucks he will be out for the first 3 months of the season. But my mom had a herniated disc once, and she was in a LOT of pain. I don't know how it feels to have a herniated disc, but I know it's incredibly painful and agonizing. I hope Darius gets back alright.

It's going to ruin Eddie's plans with the small offensive lineup he had setup with Songalia, Jamison, Butler, Stevenson and Arenas. He will probably use Michael Ruffin to replace Songalia though, until he comes back. The loss will definitely hurt us, leaves us with basically the same frontcourt we had last year.

Yeah, but you can't just insert Ruffin in to play the same role Songaila would have. Ruffin is a tough player and a banger, Songaila has more of an offensive game and can shoot the ball. They have different styles of play. I like Ruffin, he's a very good rebounder, but like you said - you have the same frontcourt as last year now.

Ruffin's probably the best hustler off the bench, never complains, and he does his job. He won't come in and run pick n roll with Arenas, but he will do his job down-low and try to get second-chance opportunities, which is an ability that Songalia doesn't have. We'll see how everything will unfold tonight.
