Two days in a row, what kind of crap is this?

 

Pineda pitched a nice game today and yep the bats have to crank a bit more, 7 hits by three guys spread out in the lineup won't win many games.

 

Apparently if you're over 30 you can't get a hit in a day game.

 

Enough is enough, time to buzz that guy with some Chin Music!

 

Music to the ears-"chin music".

Or a buzz to the chin...back off the plate; or dig a grave, right in the Pitcher's Box...did I say pitcher's box, not batters box?

The greats-would claim as much, Drysdale-where have you gone?

 

I don't remember if it was one of those "legends" or if I read it in a publication but Drysdale allegedly walked up to Mickey Mantle prior to the Series Start and asked him "Where do you want it" My man Skowron traded to the Dodgers to make room for Punk Pepitone really sucked, Moose hurt the Yankees in that series. When it started I boarded a train in San Diego for the East Coast, upon arriving in Worcester Mass a few days later it was over seemingly before it began.

 

Pepitone was one of my favorite players. A GG 1st baseman with some pop & swagger. But Moose was the better hitter. & IMO the Yankees should have gotten a lot more for him then Stan Williams. And speaking of Pepitone again, the Yankees should have gotten more for him then Bleffery when they traded him in 69.

 

I missed most of Pepitones career being across the pond. Lost what respect I had after reading his book. I ran into his daughter at times in Olando, not a bad looker, but a BS artist. One night he was in the bar where she was performing, could have met him but declined. When she asked me why I did not come over I stated that I was not family and did not want to interfere.

 

Honestly Michael I didn't even know he did a book. What was it called & what was wrong with it?

 

It was called "Joe You Coulda Made Us Proud" I read it back in 85, he talks about mobsters wanting to rough up Skowron, his jail time at Rikers Island, dealing with dope, and selling toupees. Then he told a story about Denny Mc Laine grooving one to the Mick who rode it for bomb 536. Pepitone said that he too looked for such a pitch but not to be. I told his daughter that I'd read his book and she told me he was just amping thing up for interest.

 

The story about McLain grooving one to the Mick is true. Its a story Mick himself told many times.

 

...yup, good book. I think I read it in the late 70's or so. FWIW, Mantle actually hit #536 vs Boston's Jim Lonborg. The HR he hit off McClain was his last AB in Detroit (#535).
...and Pepitone wrongly assumed he could also get in on the fun. lol
