    4/14 - Loretta Lynn - 82
    4/15 - Roy (Hee Haw) Clark - 81
    4/15 - Claudia Cardinale - 75

Just got me thinking a bit. Especially since my father just got diagnosed with colon cancer. This on top of my mother having the same diagnose three years ago. Knock on wood she is in remission.

First off its great that you still have your parents considering how old you are. And I'm sorry to hear about your dad. I'll be sure to pop in a prayer tonight for the folks.

Nah, 46 years young my friend. Plus I live in SoCal, we have the fountain of youth here. Heck I even know guys in their 70s and early 80s at the gym that still bench 225-315. They are the first guys to jump over and spot a kid or correct their form, lol!

I here you Al. My folks are both cancer survivors and unfortunately battling it again. Dad has a repeat of NSCLC, but there are so many treatment options for that type of lung cancer these days, so far so good. Mom has had various types of skin cancer, but the latest one is untreatable except for surgical removal. Merkel Cell Carcinoma, very rare and is thought to be associated with a yet to be identified virus. Fortunately she was caught at stage 0, where the biopsy was all the cancer. Stats are in her favor, survival rate is 10+ years, time for treatment option, etc. to make it into her 90s like her parents.

My father spent 21 of his 24 years in the Navy on sea duty as a boiler technician. Told me some stories about the Coal fired destroyers of the early forties. In addition to below deck duty those old ships were asbestos city and like most of the young sailors of that time Camels & Luckies were the butts of choice. So by the time the big "C" was diagnosed he was gone shortly after. He would not opt for the big money insurance payments to buy a few extra days, The man survived Pearl Harbor for started, survived WWI & Korea and gets taken out by problems initiated by service on ships to defend this country. I remember taking to an English Doctor back in '95 who then stated Cancer was a problem because it starts within, don't know how true that is now they've made good progress.
