When he pitches with a little swagger - he's effective. Today, he just showed no emotion, had no confidence, spent too much time during an AB taking his cap off, wiping his forehead. He seemed to crack in the 1st inning when Jeter failed to get to that ball, and possible turn 2. After that - Nova was deflated. Someone needs to give him the 'grow a sack speech'. You can't show up with no energy, and allow a bad fielding play ruin your entire start in the 1st inning.
The Yankees need him to step up because theirs really no one else in the pen right now that could take that 5th spot.
Lets just hope Nova has his game ball tonight so the Yankees get right and take 3/4 from the Bostons.
...yeah, Phelps pitched very well during ST, Pineda was just a little better. Now if Pineda could simply somehow learn to wear his cap straight.
I don't know if its a trend, a fashion statement, can't find a mirror or they just have trouble finding the middle of there heads. It just looks really dumb.
Don't forget the iron flat bill.... To this day and ever since I was a kid, all new hats get the bill curved. The rubber bands around the coffee can worked best. And I still check the cap in a mirror to make sure its on straight.
Yeah every time I see one of these idiots I can't help but think of Porky from the little rascals. I'm just surprised that the manager doesn't say, "Hey not for nothing try to look professional".
...talking about having the caps "peaked", I remember playing L League and cutting out a piece of cardboard to fit the front half of the cap (kinda shaped like a girls tiara) and fitting it inside between the cap material and the band to get a higher "peak" in the front....aah, good times.
