    THE VERDICT

    Overall, gaming on the Fire TV is a compelling experience, though it obviously targets a much more casual demographic. But when paired with the vast wealth of streaming entertainment from most major services, the Fire TV’s gaming functionality makes for a cheap all-in-one solution for a room away from your next-gen console or entertainment center. However, with ever persistent rumors of Apple’s plans to take on living room gaming with its 2014 update to the Apple TV, Amazon could soon face stiff competition.

    8.0=GREAT

    Amazon's claim to the living room is a solid first effort with only a few minor blemishes.

    They wanna say 8 equals great, so they do. If they rated it 453 and said great what would you say?

    I would say "congrats on not going for a 1-10 scale like every other braindead tech site."

    I'm intrigued because I'm already in for a pound on Prime, and this would be a fine Prime streaming box. But how many internet streaming boxes should I want or need? I'm already flipping through "channels" on my AppleTV trying to figure out if a show is on Hulu, Crunchyroll, or some other service.

    Yeah. I can also stream porn on my ipad to my TV using airplay. Just found that out last weekend.
