The NBA says it will but you never know, on an interview in OTL they said "if it's not broken, fix it and make it better" or something along those lines. Although the ball seems to be doing fine so far in the games, lots of players still don't like it.
Yes, they will stay with the new ball. Spalding has stopped manufacturing the old leather ball (or so the league says), and when has Stern ever reversed one of his decisions? So what if the players don't like it... they are the best basketball players in the world, and so they should be able to adjust to the ball. The balls are being used all the time in the league... it isn't as if they are practicing with the old leather ball and all of a sudden are forced to play in a game with the new ball. They'll adjust to it.As the season progresses, the talk about the ball will die down the same way the whole dress code situation played out over the course of last season.
I don't see the new ball effecting high scoring either. Even if it's only a couple of games, I think as players adapt to the new ball. The scores won't see a dropoff imo.
I dont think that the new ball will have any effect on that aspect of the game. I feel that it might bring down scoring and shooting percentages just a little bit but it wont effect the players will to play. Every play has to deal with it so its really not THAT big of a deal.
Stern said he won't be changing it, but if it's a serious problem he's be forced to. I don't see how he can be more hated then he already is...

Like Bill Simmons said, he'll probably make a rule before next season mandating that players wear NBA-approved bullet proof vests when they go out. :HAHAHA:Also, I really don't think the new ball will lower shooting percentages. I mean, from what I've read most of the pure shooters have said it allows them to shoot better since they can get a better grip on the ball. I can see, however, how it would effect players who penetrate a lot (I.e. Iverson, Nash, Parker, etc.) because the ball does have a tendency to stick. It was easier to regain control of the old ball if you lost it in traffic.

Haven't seen any significant dropoff scoring wise yet.

I mean it's just a ball... but still David Stern is making me more and more convinced he doesn't know what he's doing.
Or maybe he does... I mean, sure, the changes seem pointless, but look at the timing of the announcements. He announces these things a few weeks prior to the start of the season (look at the dress code last year). What does that do? It creates controversy and gets people thinking and talking about the NBA.

Some changes are a real good intention but I was really confused with him when he said he wanted to ban those leggings. :no3:
Saw something on NBA TV yesterday. Don't know if its old or if many people have seen it but they was interviewing Dwyane Wade and the guy gave him the new ball and the old ball. He told Wade to close his eyes and pick which one is the old ball. He said the new ball was the old ball, so I don't know how much different they feel.
