Am I missing something? Is there a protest going on that I don't know about? Last night during the game there were only 2 of us on the board & in the mornings I usually wake up to 6-7 new posts & today there were NONE. Can someone fill me in?
Speaking for myself I was watching the game on MLB. Pineda pitched a nice game and of course we had controversy of an alleged substance on his arm. What about the greaseball Buckholtz pitching for the Bostons. Missed part of the game, came back and saw Phelps in there man did a nice job. McCann got a hit and RBI but I guess teams are going to shift on him all year. CC going tonight and given his track record against Boston I'd say the Yankees better score early and often.
Just very surprised that there's no one on board. Hope the wife is dealing okay with her pregnancy. Be well.
What I found humorous was while watching sports center a little while ago they were asking Ortiz about the substance on Pineda's hand & the only thing I could think of was, "This is funny, they're asking a cheat about possible cheating". But to his credit he just responded, "No big deal".
...I watched the game but from experience, I have found that posting during game is not always productive...emotions ebb and flow too much.
Not much has changed unfortunately... she's still sick as a dog and has to take another glucose tolerance test... plus she's now going to the dr once a week until the end of the pregnancy... and the dr is an hour away...
I was dining out with coworkers, we just finished a week long of team meetings. Sitting on the patio at Pacifica Del Mar, eating the seared ahi signature dish....had a view of the ocean to my right and the game on over the bar to my left. We all left our phones and tablets in the car.
...I'm big on Mahi too...caught a big one in the Keys a few years back (40 pounds)...we cut "bricks" off that dolphin. Grilled it, fried it, baked it, etc., and it was all great...nice white firm meat. (no, not young woman)...Still the best eating fish ever for me...one of the prettiest too....colors like a rainbow.
Okay you're all forgiven & Totus, you were eating seared ahi? I think I use to go out with her. And BTW: I won't be on the boards tonight. Have to attend at birthday party for a 92 year old WW2 veteran at my local VFW. And the son of a bitch has more energy then I do.
I'll be at an American Legion Dance myself, at least they'll have the game on. Friday night is always interesting with the Rays fans and all the Draft Dodgers and REMFs who never served but have an American Legion Card riding the coat tails of a relative who did. I dropped the VFW for the same reason. Korea & Viet Nam Vets are not really big joiners.
We have many Korean & Viet Nam Vets & many associated members who just served but never went over seas (like myself). But I know what you're saying about the MANY others who NEVER served but yet are allowed in if they're sponsored by someone & they pay there yearly fees ($40.00).
As the old Joan Baez tune went there but for fortune. Fact is you suited up, you took the risk, a set of orders could have gotten you that all expenses paid vacation to places unknown. You got an NDSM there fore you stuck your neck out. There are many at that post who when asked what Branch were you in you hear my daddy, or uncle or whatever. My dad was career Navy, my brother career Air Force but I came in on my own coat tails colored Army Green. Found my Basic Training color photo the other day taken in July of '63. My prefix was RA not US, NG, or ER. You served Rick, that makes you on of us.
I know in the case of my FIL, a replacement corpsman, he in more active in other service organizations as opposed to VFW or AL. His Vietnam experiences of being in and out of country, days to weeks at a time, are a part of his life he'd like to forget. When he was boots on the ground in was always in combat, than back in Okinawa, than back to Vietnam/Laos/Cambodia. Spends most of his time with the Elks or hanging with other retired fireman from his stations.
Corpman, or Medic as we called them, point infantrymen, and radio ops were the primo targets for out little $%%^%^ in Vietnam, Cambodia, and people forget the Korean DMZ could get hot in the 60's as well. Problem with the American Legions and VFWS here in Fla if they want to sell booze they have to pay for those licenses, so anything goes. I got called out by an SAL member once for not having an American Legion Card.
There was a time (seems like only yesterday) when you couldn't join any of these clubs unless you had your DD214. Today, its just to easy.
