atleast we can be happy we have nothing to play for in montreal tonight... things usually don;t go well.
Great game by the Rangers tonight. Makes you feel very good going into the playoffs. 3 of our best players out, nothing to play for, backup goalie in, Habs playing for home ice, and we still outplayed them in Montreal. Great stuff.
I really enjoyed this game. We played shorthanded and really forced Canadiens in their house. No cigar, but who cares.....Talbot looks to be a good backup. Who would have thought. Now, focus on those chippy bullys from Philly.
Just have to get this out of my system. The biased refereeing in that building is absolute joke and been going for years. Having said that. Rusk and Price are the only two goalies I would not want too face in the East. They are two goalies who are basically on the same level as Hank.
We would beat Montreal in the playoffs IMO. Price does play well against us, but we really outplayed them tonight IMO. I doubt they beat Boston anyway if they even get by TB. And Rask is obviously great, but he is far from our biggest issue against the Bruins, they just pound us into the ice. I would love another shot at them though. As for the refs, that was a clear penalty and penalty shot IMO. I have no issues with that call.
Chuck, Penalty shot was an obvious call. The other stuff that Montreal gets away with in that stupid building is biased refereeing. Subban had like 5 cross checks on Dorcett and got just two minutes while Dorcet got 10 and 2. That was just one example. Regarding Price, they've scored like 1 goal against Price in like 4 years. They may outplay them but Price can steal the series.
Montreal is always terrible with the refs, I agree, but I really didn't see much that was crazy tonight. Dorsett deserved a penalty there. Maybe you can say Subban should have gotten an extra 2, but honestly the refs were okay tonight IMO. As for Price, he sure does play well against us. But if we ever played them in the ECF, which I would welcome, I think we would beat them for sure IMO. I really do.
Talbot only allowed one penalty shot goal in two Montreal starts. That being said the Rangers didn't score in two games north of the border this year either.
If the playoff system stayed the same we would have opened the playoffs in Montreal. We could have clearly answered the Montreal question...LOL.
We've scored 1, ONE goal against Montreal this year in three games. Think about it. That guy Price owns us.
Yup, and I don't sweat them. We outplayed them last night. Outplayed them in the game we lost at MSG. I think we would beat them. But guess what...doesn't matter. To be honest not really sure why we are even discussing this....who cares. We won't play Montreal again, doubtful they beat the Bruins even if we get to the ECF. So it is really a pointless unanswerable discussion. And as such we can go back and forth with no real answer, so I will bow out now. Let's just beat the Flyers and we'll go from there.
Oh and BTW...Montreal has scored 3, THREE goals against us this year (one on a penalty shot). Both teams struggled to score in this matchup. And the game at MSG, Price didn't even play.
There is no debate here. I don't sweat Montreal as team. I just think Price can steal series in the playoffs. The guy is one of the best now and should be considered on Hank's level.
