I seriously can't believe you people think they never get called out.</div>I completely agree, I came in here expecting to see Stackhouse and Walker both be mentioned here to. They might not take as many shots as they used to, but they still take ALOT of just terrible forced ballhog shots. I don't know how many times I have watched Walker take off down the court have numbers, and ruin a 3 on 1 or 2 fast break by his inability to give up the ball on the break. For Stackhouse, I have seen him force up numerous shots early in the shot clock that were completely not needed and out of the offense. Someone that likes to take his fair share of shots and has a ball-hoggish tendencies for me is Janerro Pargo of the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets.. He might not take as many shots per game as others do, but do not let that fool you, he likes to take his bad shots and he will shoot when he can. I think we saw earlier this season that he likes to take his shots.
Re: Ballhogs that don't get called out. Arenas doesn't get called out in the media, on here ya but not in the Sports world. He takes way too many bad shots.
Re: Ballhogs that don't get called out. Thats the thing, you have guys like Kobe, a lot of the elite scorers and they take as many shots as Arenas, but Kobe takes good shots, thats the big difference for me.
Re: Ballhogs that don't get called out. ^^^You are wrong on that. Kobe takes his fair share of terrible shots every game. Believe me.
Re: Ballhogs that don't get called out. Antoine and Stackhouse were MAJOR ballhogs when they were main options for their teams. I used to throw fits watching Antoine chucking up 3's for the Celts. He lead the league in 3 point field goal attempts 3 years in a row, that was absolutely pathetic. Stackhouse was also a ballhog for the Pistons and Wizards. But, now that they are coming off the bench their ballhogging isn't as noticeable as it used to be. At least in my opinon. Toine has the ability to be a great passer and is a very creative passer when he wants to be. He has some great games dishing the ball. When he starts getting comfortable behind the 3-point line though, he's finished.
Re: Ballhogs that don't get called out. besides who's already been mentionedEarl Boykins is a ballhogHe's short though so I can't really knock him for trying his hardest to beat the odds every night..because hes not gonna be a rebounder..so he needs to get his burn by scoringhe's still a ballhog tho

I don't see how he can be a ball hog.
Re: Ballhogs that don't get called out. I hope yall realize, when Stack, Bobby Jackson and other scoring bench players come out to play, they are asked for one thing...to score. You want these players to kindve shoot and hog it up some...that way you get some bench points. I mean, if they arent shooting well, Yeah they need to pass...but for those type of players...thats what they're supposed to do. Remember, Stack averaged 29ppg once...hes going to hog a bit.
Re: Ballhogs that don't get called out. Jerry Stackhouse was definitely somebody that first came to mind. His only mentality is to score and he shoots it every opportunity that he gets. Even if his coach gives him the green light, he shoots too much. Earl Boykins plays the same way and I definitely view him as a ballhog.
Re: Ballhogs that don't get called out. YES! RON ARTEST IS A BALLHOG! FINALLY SOMEONE ELSE MENTIONS IT!Ron Artest is a beast on defense but in terms of offense he's really just an average scorer. He was doing pretty well in Indy before the brawl in terms of scoring without plays called for him everytime. But now all he wants is the ball - a good attitude on defense but a bad one on offense.

BTW, you guys can not call Gilbert a ballhog, he rarely goes out of hte princeton offense or any other play Eddie Jordan runs, he's passed points up when there was no one in sight so someone else coudl score. Gilbert was a ballhog the first year he was in Washington not anymore, I watch him on a dailby basis and I see him very very very rarely bring it up court and not pass it to anyone.
Re: Ballhogs that don't get called out. There are so many ballhogs in the league but the top 5 are (not in any order) Kobe Bryant, Allen Iverson, Carmelo Anthony, Gilbert Arenas, and Vince Carter.

He said "ballhogs" which don't get called out. Kobe does daily.Anyhow, Gilbert arenas is a shoot hog.
Re: Ballhogs that don't get called out. Did anyone mention Antawn Jamison? I realize he is a scorer but he still does qualify as a ballhog. I don't really hear a lot about people calling him out.
Re: Ballhogs that don't get called out. How do you guys define "ball hogs"? You guys are implying that if a player takes a lot of shots, he is a ball hog. Every top scorer from Chamberlain, Havlicek to Bird and Jordan took a lot of shots.7 out of 9 NBA season, Jordan led the league in FGA, is Jordan a ball hog? The year when the Timberwolves was one of the best teams in the NBA, Garnett led the league in FGA, those that makes Garnett a ball hog, or a player that is trying to help his team win?Or when a coach draw a play for his top scorer to shoot the ball, and the player shoot it, those that makes the player a ball hog?
Re: Ballhogs that don't get called out. Sports Junkie, my definition of a ballhog is a player who has bad shot selection but shoots it anyway. A ballhog is someone who will go down the court with 2 other teammates open for a shot and drive it in or take a shot of their own. A ballhog is someone that just plainly takes silly shots and puts himself getting 2 points ahead of their team winning by 2 points.

He forces so much shots its not even funny.
