I was looking through some NBA things this morning and I just realized how horrible the Lakers roster is. Take a look at their lineup, then look at their bench. It's horrible.NO team should have to start Smush Parker, and Luke Walton. People dont give Kobe enough credit for leading this team. To lead that horrible team to a 7th seed really blows my mind.People are too busy hating on Kobe Bryant to realize that we are watching one of the greatest players in NBA history.
I completely agree with you Tony. I don't know what it is but people don't seem to understand what we have right now. One of the greatest guards to ever play the game and people don't seem to care. I used to be an ignorant Kobe hater (like 4 years ago). Like I did then, people need to grow up and realize what we have.
This is why I mentioned Kobe is the most under-appreciated player in the league in that thread. He is, IMO, the 2nd best SG to ever play this game. The only man better than him at his position is obviously the one and only Michael Jordan. But people take too much time and waste too much energy hating Kobe, when they don't appreciate how great of a player he really is. He's absolutely incredible.- He toys with defenses, could score however many points he wants on any night.- Great defender.- Very clutch.- Rebounds the ball.- Leader, whether you like his attitude or not.- Super athletic.- Has all the raw skills a player could ask for.- Beautiful shot.- Has cockiness to him, but he always backs it up.- Nobody can stop him whatsoever.- Underrated passer. VERY underrated passer.- Works his ass of every year.- Always in perfect shape. He's an incredible player. I can't stand the Kobe haters. Everybody who is a Kobe hater is jealous that they a) aren't him, or that he isn't on their team.
Why don't people realize Kobe's greatness? Here are my top 5 reasons:1) Michael Jordan. From the beginning he has been considered the next MJ, who was the greatest player of all time. That is a HEAVY load. Up until now, despite him being a top 5 SG of all time, he has not lived up to the expectations. In his 10+ seasons, he has been the best player in the league only once IMO, and that was this past season. He will likely never exceed MJ, and that will only hurt him as he is V-E-R-Y similar to MJ, and people will look at him as purely inferior. You will then see players like LeBron pop up, a whole new breed of player, and be considered better and become more and more popular due to his uniqueness and not really having the MJ tag on him as much as Kobe did.2) Shaq. His 3 'chips were on a team where the leader was not Kobe, but Shaq. Unlike TD, MJ, Hakeem, and Magic Johnson, he was not the best player on his team, did not ever win Finals MVP, etc... Shaq haunted his career for every year up until 2004-2005 season, and it's going to take another few years to prove himself that he can do it on his own. Dropping a 3-1 lead against the Suns doesn't help.3) The infamous night in Colorado. Even if he didn't rape her, he still cheated on his wife, and ultimately made a bad name for himself there. Unlike say gambling, rape and suspicion of rape is at a whole 'nother level. Many people will automatically hate him for that, even if they had never seen Kobe play a minute of baksetball.4) His attitude. Ontop of the cockiness and such comes another side of him. He always wanted the Lakers, despite their success with Shaq as a leader, to be his team. When people said he shot too much he dissapeared vs Kings a few years back. He always went back and forth with Shaq in the papers, and up until recently has always been the quiet kind and used to isolate himself from teammates. His drive to prove people wrong and be a leader has been more of a deterant in his career than it was for MJ, at least up until this point.5) Some people just don't think he is the best in the game for one reason or another.
He's the best player in the NBA, no question. His defense is top notch; he's a top five perimeter defender. Then there is his shooting, which is very accurate. You tell him he takes too many shots, but who else will take shots for LA? Odom maybe, but Kobe is a monster. The fact that he has no MVP's, to go with Nitro's reasons, makes people not realize Kobe's greatness. He definately deserves an MVP.
Yeah, a ton of people hate him, including me. But we've all got to respect his basketball ability. He's the best player in basketball. He's the best offensive player in the League, and good on defense also. He led a sh*tty team to the 7th team in the Western Conference. In the East he possibly could have led them to the 5th, or 6th seed. He's a great player, and people need to start giving him some respect.
I don't think anyone can deny Kobe's greatness. I just think they don't want the face of the NBA to be a convicted rapist.
I said the same thing weeks ago. And I have been saying the same thing about the Lakers roster too. I have gone so far as to call them a nbadl team. But seriously, when MJ was in his prime people hated on him too. Saying things like "ball hog" "overrated" but he quickly silenced those people just like Kobe will. Ane even if they dont shutup those same jerks who knock him now will lament the day he retires, and say he was the best.

People should have realized how great he is when he outscored the Dallas Mavericks by himself in three quarters. If they didnt realize then, than they should have realized once he scored 81 points against Toronto. And then if the haters still didnt realize his greatness by then, all of them should be banned from watching the NBA forever! Just kidding. But seriously anybody who still doesn't think that kobe is a great player has a serious problem. He is the greastest player in todays game.

Sorry to break the news to you guys, but Kobe is not as good as you guys say. Yes he is the most talented player, I am not gonna argue with that but he is not the best player, that woudl probably either be Dwade or Lebron. They are selfless palyers who care about the team first, and themselves second, something that Kobe has never done, and you can not deny this. Wade and Lebron get their teammates involved and make them better than they really are, whiel Kobe often makes his teammates uncomfortable and therefore do not produce as well as they should. Just look at Lamar Odom, in Miami he had a breakthrough year playing with DWade, but as soon as he got to LA he started strugggling. And for the first two games of this season he has been back to that level due to Kobe's absence, and also not to mention that the Lakers are playing their best ball in 2 years which has allowed them to win two hard fought games against talented teams. Also don't hate on Sumush Parker and Luke, they did a solid job last year, and did better than a lot of other starters in the league. If you ask me, Kobe is no where as good as peoepl say, yes he is the most talented player, and yes he is teh best scorer, but he is not a leader and a teamate, which will keep him from ever achiving true greatness

Not a leader? Makes his team-mates feel uncomfortable? not a good team mate?you must be joking. He lead his team to the playoffs. That in its self is enough. He hit game winner after game winner. He looked to pass first vs phoenix in the playoffs when that is what his team required. He scored 61 and 81 points. "not as good as people think" How good do you have to be? Kobe takes over in the 4th sometimes dragging his undertalented team to victory. And I am sick of hearing this rape sh*t. Its people who cant knock him in any other way using some BS made up by a gold digger. They did the same thing to MJ, but with mj it was about gambleing and sh*t.Kobe might tell his team-mates off- but Mj did it too, almost every interview you hear from his team-mates back in the day say "he was a great leader and great to play with , but if you messed up he would sure let you know."I have seen many games where MJ is in someones grill screaming them down for a f-up. No-one says he is a bad team-mate.No everyone in the league would love to play with KOBE.And as far as Lamar having a "bad" year. HE HAD TO SPEND SOME TIME LEARNING THE TRIANGLE OFFENSE. is that clear enough for you? It always takes anyplayer a year or so to get it right.
Ok, I never said that he is bad, and scoring 81 poinst is and incredibel task and thats why I say hes the most talented player. And yes he is clutch, one of the clutches palyers today. But he is not a leader he does not inspire his team and does not make them better such as Michael did. Just look at why Chucky Atkins wanted to leave because Kobe was an impossible person to deal with. Kobe is a top 5 player in the NBA, and IMO hes #3 behing Dwade and Lebron. He is great, and will go down as oen of the best, but he will never achieve the glory and recognition that MJ has and that Dwade and Lebron will get when they hang up their shoes. And I did not say anything about teh rape scandal cause in my opinion it is irrelevant to wheter he is a good player or not

Rather than argue further I will agree to disagree. I think Kobe is a great leader and clearly the best in the L. And I wont be changing my mind. I assume your the same.

I hope you're joking, that guy has serious attitude problems, he was f*cking up, and Kobe told him he was. He then turned around and insulted Kobe in the media. After the Lakers traded him to Washington, the same sh*t happened, he demanded a trade.
Defenetly one of the greatest players too ever touch the court, I usually find myself hating him when he's scoring 30-so points against my teams lol.
I hate Kobe Bryant as a person.I love Kobe Bryant as a player. He is simply amazing, he does things no other human being on this earth can do, to this day.You can't rank him with or above Michael Jordan at this point, he's still got alot of time ahead of him. He's got a future, off the top of my head I don't know how old Kobe is, maybe 28? He's got 6-7, 8 years ahead of him!!! Jesus christ..Think about what he can do in that time, he's just such an amazing player, with amazing leadership qualitys..
